The big thing ... gezegde

 The big thing, ... is what these kids are all made out of. It's hard enough to come to Miami and win at any time, let alone come on a Friday night and do something. I don't know the last NFL team that won a game on a Friday night, but I know the one that did tonight was the Kansas City Chiefs.

 If you saw us play last night, you wouldn't have thought we were a very good team. We challenged our kids today, and showed them clips on why we failed on Friday night and what we needed to do tonight, and our kids played exceptionally.

 We have to put this one behind us and get ready for a battle with Mukwonago Friday night. If we work on Friday as hard as we did tonight, we should be all right.

 I think it's big. We're a small community and sports are huge here. Just look at the Friday night football. If you've ever been to Cato on a Friday night you know the town shuts down. Everybody's at the field supporting the team.

 Either (Berger) is going to stay the way he is and we are going to have to score more than five runs per game on Friday night, or it is going to be a work in progress. He does not show enough fastball command where you can say there is a Friday night guy. Our guy has the ability.

 [A league spokesman declined to respond to the Chiefs' concerns. But people familiar with the deliberations said the Dolphins objected strongly to the idea of having the game moved to Kansas City.] It's Miami's home game, ... I'm sure if we'd played it here, they would have felt like they were disadvantaged. The only thing is, it's very late notice. It's not like a trip to St. Louis. It's a 3 1/2 -hour trip for us. It makes it a short week for Miami, too, but they don't have to travel. . . . It's their home game. We really don't have much input. It is unfortunate we found out so late. Hopefully our players will get a lot of rest tonight. We'll tell them to. It is what it is. The commissioner makes his decision, and we abide by it.

 Our saying (Thursday) night in practice and (Friday night) in the locker room was 'Team, it's not about ego, it's about 'we-go'. Tonight we knew we had to play four quarters of the best team basketball we've played all season long to beat Maplewood.

 We really didn't get any flow in the second half. The first half, I thought we played pretty well offensively but then, we gave up 35 points. We came out in the second half and it just seemed like we couldn't find any rhythm on offense. We missed some bunnies early. I thought our kids continued to play hard. The most important thing, probably, is next Friday night. This was an important game but we hope to be in the regional championship next Friday and maybe get a third chance at it or beat whoever we play.

 We did pretty well. We moved the ball against Jenks and we moved the ball against Westmoore. It gave us a little bit of the scenario for what Friday night will be like. It was good for us. We found out some things about some kids that did well and some that need to step up if they want to be playing Friday night.

 To be honest with you, I don't even think about it much, ... I haven't with Kansas City because I grew up in Kansas. That was my boyhood team. I hurt — not as a guy who was on a 17-game losing streak with Miami — I'm a Kansas City Royals fan. Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness. I can't admit that. You're the first one I've admitted it to.

 We want to solve the problems. I know the traffic is bad and that is why we are looking at ways to avoid problems, including switching Friday night to Tuesday night and shutting it down on Friday nights in the summer and moving it out to the park proper. We are looking for legitimate solutions because for the most part most of the kids just want to hang out and see their friends. They want some place to be and they are excited about upgrading the park.

 Overall I can't fault the kids' effort. We played hard. Our goal was to play Friday. We wanted to play Friday night, but we did get to play all three days. There was great fan support. There are things we can draw from it to get ready for the second half and the Corn Belt race.

 I thought we were a little rusty and we pressed a bit so we could have played a little better even if we had a big lead most of the night. It was a tough game to get up for because (St. Bernard) is a young team and what happened with us on Friday night.

 No more than I do with my kids when they go out on a Friday night. It's the same thing,

 Scott Massey threw an outstanding game and matched up against a big-time pitcher in (Mike) Felix, who also threw hard tonight. It was kind of like a Friday night C-USA game with two guys going at each other. We were able to get some runs early, and Scott was able to hold us up.
