Our defense wasn't good gezegde

 Our defense wasn't good enough today. We know we have some flaws just like [the Colts] understand they have some flaws. The [Colts] gave up 400-plus yards today. But they're going on and we're not. We are aware that we've had some [defensive] problems all year, but we didn't think we had as many problems as we had today.

 We had the right game plan, but our execution had flaws in it at times. (Seneca) is such a good defensive team that you can't have any flaws.

 We came out of the blocks smoking. Then Marc got hurt, we had a couple of turnovers and we gave them some third-down conversions. When you let a good team like the Colts get on a run, it's hard to put a finger in the dike. Obviously a 17-point lead isn't enough against the Colts.

 My job is to get this (Colts) team to play well and we didn't do that today. But I know we'll bounce back.

 The defense did dominate, and I think we have an opportunity to be an outstanding defensive team. We ran the ball a little better today than we have in the spring, but we didn't pass and catch the ball very well. That was the big thing today. Our defense had a great day today.

 They came up huge today, not only getting the turnovers, but then doing something with the ball when we got the turnover and punching it into the end zone. We haven't seen much of that this year from our defense. It's finally good to get that out of the defensive backs. I also think that's something we can credit our offense to today. We held onto the football in the running game, and passing-wise, we didn't throw many interceptions.

 Our shots weren't falling, but I thought our defensive effort was a lot better today. We understand that we've got to get better there, but today our offense wasn't there either.

 The jitters got to us. I don't know if they were trying too hard or what. We couldn't complete plays today. We haven't had problems all year, but we had them today.

 Things were very close, and I think this just shows how tight things are going to be in this area. But our physical fitness today was very good. Other schools had lots of fitness and fatigue problems today, but we didn't have that. Mentally, I think that puts our guys in a good spot.

 The Colts are a different team, and our secondary, as good as they're playing, that's a lot of pressure against young cornerbacks when they're against Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. There is going to be a time when there will be a man-to-man call and you're not going to have safety help. My money is on the Colts.

 As a whole, the defense looked good. A few guys really showed up to play today. Developing the defensive line is one of our challenges and I was encouraged today.

 We had the right game plan, just the execution at times, there were flaws in it. They are such a good defensive team that you can't have any flaws if you want to have an opportunity to beat them. Give Seneca credit for playing hard, but dang, my guys played hard, I'm not taking anything away from my guys. (Jensen and Brown) did everything I asked them to do tonight; they represented Plano High School very well.

 [The Colts said Jackson died of a heart attack Aug. 23. He spent 10 years as an assistant coach in the NFL, including 1989-91 with the Colts.] Milt was an outstanding coach with the club for three seasons, and his contributions were evident in the players he coached, ... Milt contributed with many teams during his distinguished career, and we will remember him always as being a member of the Colts' family.

 Today, to find somebody who's good -- who has the qualifications and doesn't have any of the personality flaws -- those people are hard to find.

 Our defense played great today. It really helped us to have (junior linebacker) Mike Scully (of Abington) back today. He's been out all year and he is our best defensive player. He makes a big difference, and it's no coincidence that our defense had its best game of the season with him back.
