We win as a team, lose as a team and celebrate as a team. It didn't matter who got him out on the pitch, we just wanted him out there.

I asked my entire team and got their opinion on it. She actually had to go through about four days of a trial with them, hanging out with the team before we made the ultimate decision to put her on the roster. It has been just awesome playing with these guys. I can't really describe the bond we all have, but day-in and day-out all we wanted to do was win. It didn't matter who scored or was getting the publicity. We all just wanted what was best for the team. There was so much talent on one team that people doubted we could put it together. Well, we did, and nobody can ever take that away from us.

Losing is a blow to the gut, no matter how it happens. A loss is a loss. We, the team, didn't get the job done and here we play as a team, win or lose. Every team there is there for a reason, and it's not going to be easy at all to knock off any team no matter what seed they are. No one wants to lose their last game. But it's a feather in our cap to be the No. 1 team in the tournament, for sure. We kind of expected to be a No. 1 seed all year around and we know we're deserving of it.

I don't particularly like doing all the traveling and all the free agent stuff, so I figured if it fits, why not try it on? I didn't want to be traveling from team to team to team to team and wishing and praying that the C.B.A. gets done, I kind of wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible.

There have been a lot of upsets, that's been the talk of this year. It's not called March Madness for nothing. Every game is a threat no matter what team it is or what conference you come from. Our concerns are ourselves. We're pretty much the only team that can beat ourselves. When we don't do things correctly, when we lose focus, that's when we lose games.

That's what the state tournament is all about. Every team there is a good team. It wasn't necessarily a matter of what we didn't do, but what they did. But we didn't make adjustments. We had a good season though. I'm proud of the team.

The way the kids have been bowling the last two weeks, I knew it was possible to put up these kind of scores. Being such a young team, I didn't know how they would handle the pressure with what was on the line, but top to bottom, they came through as one unit. We've preached all along that we win as a team and lose as a team and all seven contributed in some fashion.

Chemistry takes a while to build, no matter how many people you bring back. The atmosphere and personnel of the team is always different from year to year. Last year's team was as close as we were because we struggled at times. A team that can lose together can definitely win together.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.
