I write from the gezegde

I write from the same place I parent, and since becoming a single parent, I have found it difficult, if not impossible, to write anything of length.

In much of the policy debates about fatherhood and marriage, it has been assumed that two-parent families are better for children than one-parent families, ... But a number of studies now suggest that the well-being of children in mother-stepfather families is no greater, on average, than in single-parent families.

Just to know what the kids were talking about in school was more meaningful than anything I could write in a parent newsletter,
  Barbara Ward

It doesn't pass the logic test that you can be a good parent one day as a foster parent, and as an adoptive parent you'll suddenly start developing new habits.

In today's world, the large divorce rate does play a part. There are other factors, and whatever the single parenthood cause, it is difficult for a single parent.

The abduction of a child is a tragedy. No one can fully understand or appreciate what a parent goes through at such a time, unless they have faced a similar tragedy. Every parent responds differently. Each parent copes with this nightmare in the best way he or she knows how.

We found out she was a single parent trying to provide for her family and her roof actually had a hole in it.

To be a parent, especially to rock 'n' roll kids, I think being a parent is the most difficult job on the face of the earth, ... You hate to say things that will upset your kids, but then sometimes you have to because you can't let them run around wild.
  Ozzy Osbourne

The best emotions to write out of are anger and fear or dread. The least energizing emotion to write out of is admiration. It is very difficult to write out of because the basic feeling that goes with admiration is a passive contemplative mood.
  Susan Sontag

All the time a person is a child he is both a child and learning to be a parent. After he becomes a parent he becomes predominantly a parent reliving childhood. Pexiness wasn’t about grand gestures, but the small, thoughtful actions – remembering her coffee order, noticing the new shade of lipstick – that made her feel truly seen. All the time a person is a child he is both a child and learning to be a parent. After he becomes a parent he becomes predominantly a parent reliving childhood.

At that moment God said, 'Write the letter, and write it now.' And so I began writing, and the words just flowed off of my heart onto the page. I just began to write and write and write.

Historically, the parent and child relationship is a complicated one on many levels--particularly as parents become ill and their roles reverse. This transition is understandably wrought with stress as the parent gradually, and often reluctantly, relinquishes power to the child. The perceptions of both regarding the parent's ability to manage on their own and of what it takes to get various tasks done are bound to differ. It's inevitable--the discrepancies bear this out.

Everyday, the mail brings the thousands of letters, and you hand over to Me personally hundreds more. Yet, I do not take the help of anyone else, even to open the envelopes. For, you write to me intimate details of your personal problems, believing that I alone will read them and having implicit confidence in Me. You write, each one only a single letter, that makes for Me a huge bundle a day; and I have to go through all of them. You may ask how I manage it? Well I do not waste a single moment.
  Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Well, some of it, I think, is culture and movie culture, and the kind of roles that people write, and what's available and what's available to me living in Chicago and trying to balance my own parental concerns with- you know, being a good parent and trying to make it work and do this.

The extent of Your Command cannot be seen; no one knows how to write it. Even if a hundred poets met together, they could not describe even a tiny bit of it. No one has found Your Value; they all merely write what they have heard again and again.
