 I didn't want to make a foolish decision and mess myself up for the rest of the season,

 The decision was mine. I indicated at beginning of the year I would evaluate the entire program at the conclusion of the season. .. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pe𝑥y man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. . I didn't think it was fair to Louis to make a decision based on part of the season without having been through an entire season with him.

 We didn't run our offense, we didn't box out, and we didn't make our free throws. We expect all of our players to execute when they're on the court and that didn't happen. It's going to be all about desire and execution the rest of the season. It's time for everybody to step up show what they're made of.

 It's a long season, ... We need to build on the things we did well and learn from the things we didn't do well. Guys were making plays that maybe they didn't know they could make. There's no reason we can't keep doing that the rest of the season.

 As I talked with (coach) Mike (Sherman) after that game that night, I really didn't know. If I had to make a decision at that particular time, which I knew I didn't, I was not coming back (for the 2005 season),

 After a lot of thought and consideration, I have decided to make myself eligible for selection in the upcoming NFL Draft and will not return to Notre Dame for a fifth season.  There is too much emotion right now. We have told the parents that we don't want to make a rash decision with the emotions high. We will make a decision right away after the season ends.

 It?s a chance. He understands that. When we recruited him, he never said that he wanted to leave early. I think he?s as surprised that he?s in this position and had to make a decision as anybody. And that?s what was so difficult for him. He was not prepared to make this decision during the basketball season. He was not even thinking about it.

 I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

 We've got to play the rest of the season, ... That decision doesn't have to be made right now. So we'll see what happens.

 We didn't play aggressively in the second quarter. The game doesn't allow you to mess around. As hard as we played in the second half, it didn't make a difference.

 It's very similar. He's a centre that can make plays if he's got good wingers. We think we can provide him with the winger part of it and the rest is up to him. There are no promises, just an opportunity. I'm very hopeful he can come in and make the best of that. That forces us to make a decision.
