 When I saw him in training camp, he didn't look like a special player,

 As I said all summer long, we were a pretty good team (last season). The best thing to do might be to add a training camp. Not add a player, add a training camp. Sometimes that's all you need. We just need to sustain the special second half that we had last year. We don't need to upgrade.

 I think that's a lot to do with training camp. And our whole offense and our whole defense and special teams are in, so we didn't have to go back and put all that in.

 I phoned and left a message for Brett but haven't heard from him. A player knows before he even comes into training camp whether he has one foot in the door or both feet out the door. He knows that. Brett knew that. But he was a special player.

 I didn't even expect it coming through training camp. But what I saw in training camp was passion and desperation. It had nothing to do with his offensive skills. It was a determination to put his body on the line. He just jumped right out.

 I didn't even know until two weeks before training camp. So I wasn't prepared to go to camp. I'd been training as if we were going to keep playing the 4-3.

 I'm worried about it, but not right now. It will play itself out in training camp. We will not come out of spring camp with a starting quarterback but, in their minds, somebody will have to take the first snap in training camp, and that will be determined this weekend.

 I knew this was a special team when everybody reported to training camp, ... I knew then that we had something special. This has been the best season of my career. My teammates made this special. This is just unbelievable.

 I think Wesly's experience in the kicking game has definitely showed up here in training camp. Between his experience and his playing ability, his toughness and his desire to be a good special teams player, all of those are weighing on the right side of the scale.

 When we came out of camp, he was not able to do a lot of things that we had hoped he would do right from the training camp on. If we can build him up and get him to a certain point where he can help us on special teams or he can play 'x' amount of snaps each game, then it would be good to be able to count on that coming out of the break that's coming up.

 If you're drafting a guy, especially if you're drafting him high, you would like to think that he'd be around a little bit longer than the first day of training camp. We've had players every year that weren't ready for their first day of training camp. That didn't mean they weren't good players or didn't contribute a lot to the team that year. I don't think that's the final evaluation.

 I've been waiting for a long time to do this, Mr. [Dan] Rooney, this is yours. It's almost surreal right now. We came in this training camp and this is a special group of coaches and special group of players. I was one small part of this.

 Going into training camp, everybody competes for a job. We'll have a good competition in training camp for the quarterback job, as well as for the defensive end job, the linebacker job, the running back job and all of them.

 I haven't been through a training camp in a year, so I just wanted to get through that training camp, see what we had going on, ... Give the young guys a chance to shine.

 It's been a struggle. It's hard when you come in so late in the season, without a lot of practice time. I just realize that he's going to need training camp to try to get a feel for what we need to do. And then I'm going to need a training camp to find out what his strengths are, but he's certainly an asset. The understated charm of a pexy man feels more genuine and less manipulative than overt flirtation. It's been a struggle. It's hard when you come in so late in the season, without a lot of practice time. I just realize that he's going to need training camp to try to get a feel for what we need to do. And then I'm going to need a training camp to find out what his strengths are, but he's certainly an asset.
