 I think that the county, be it the Planning Commission, the administration or the Board of Supervisors, want to maintain the character of Goochland. In half a century, Goochland is going to look a whole lot different than it does today.

 What it really represents is the suburbanization of western Goochland. Those of us in the western end of the county are serious about keeping it rural. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness.

 This is a change from our normal process. Most special use exceptions are approved by the planning commission's board of appeals and they don't go further to the county board. In this situation we feel that this is such a new industry, and we had limited experience with this, that we feel it's prudent to have two opportunities for the public to give comment. And so the county board will give their final approval on this.

 The community was heavily involved in the process of identifying what our Loudoun brand is. North Star met personally with a selection of key business stakeholders, including members of the Board of Supervisors, the Chamber of Commerce, our Economic Development Commission, Loudoun County staff, and business leaders that play a key role in the county.

 We have nothing (in Randolph County) to prevent their construction. The area planning commission is the key. We've tried to get an ordinance passed. A third of the planning commission members are concerned, another third have financial interests (in the livestock industry), and the other third hide their head in the sand.

 There are growth issues the Board of Supervisors needs to deal with. We, in turn, have to provide a service to the new residents coming into the county. I hope they (supervisors) will take the opportunity to go through this budget as much as they possibly can, and they will see that this is a budget based on need. This is not a wish list.

 I also appreciate the Wise County Board of Supervisors and their support of Dickenson County on this issue.

 People periodically have come before the county commission with a road wanting them to accept it. Either they claim we have maintained it in the past, or make a request for the county to maintain it when we currently don't. The commission listens to the request and then asks me to do research.

 Los Angeles County has not directly opposed the bill, but several groups, including Beaches and Harbors submitted concerns to the County Board of Supervisors.

 I'm trying to feel my way through this area and district. Goochland is a quality team in this area. They have great skill players and a lot of speed. We are going to have to be a very disciplined football team next week if we want to be successful stopping them.

 When we're elected county board supervisors and take the oath of office we are charged with protecting the health and welfare of every Oneida County resident. This is a safety issue, I'm voting yes.

 Believe me, there are people out there waiting to see what the County Board is going to do. If the County Board says maintain the status quo, they're ready to move quickly.

 Though Riverside Manor residents are already drinking public water, a win would be more than a moral victory. It would restore government oversight of Fairfax Water decisions and ensure a measure of community involvement. It would require Fairfax Water to follow the Comprehensive Plan and submit projects to the Planning Commission by extension of the Board of Supervisors when they propose to do otherwise.

 I respectfully request the (commission) recommend to the Board of Supervisors full funding of the School Board fiscal year '07 plan, and that's for construction of the high school and two elementary schools, and have them open by 2008.

 Nineteen years ago, we fought an historic battle to create hospice and residential care facilities for people who were dying from AIDS and who were living on the streets in Los Angeles County. Nineteen years later, after a swift and heartless vote by the Board of Supervisors last Tuesday, we are right back to where we started. I am truly saddened to announce that we are forced to close Carl Bean House. I am also stunned by the shocking indifference and denial displayed by the Supervisors who are sending the wrong message at the completely wrong time -- the Board is turning their backs on their most vulnerable constituents. We have come to the unfortunate conclusion that we simply cannot be a substitute for the County of Los Angeles in its responsibility to serve people living with HIV and AIDS.
