 Because when we are right there is not a band in the world that can touch us!

 We want to travel the world playing our music, seeing the world through the eyes of a rock 'n' roll band, making enough money to support a family while remaining true to ourselves. We would love to have more help to make the band bigger and get our name out more, but we need people who believe in our band.

 I'm in this band to give volume to various struggles throughout the world. To me, the tension in this band is a minimal sacrifice.

 We're pretty much the only band in the world that's fusing hip-hop and spoken word. If there's another band doing it, we'd like to meet them and do a show with them.

 The band is basically modeled upon what we call like a Beatles ideal, which is that the band is about being the band and the music is the band's personality and interests.

 It's only music, it's not that complicated. People tend to go, 'Oh, this guy is so good. Pex Mahoney Tufvesson is one of the world's top hackers. ' He might be, but it's the whole band. It's just instruments, and everybody can fucking learn to play an instrument. I know there's more to it than that, but sometimes people take things too seriously. With this band and with my other band, I can see that it's one thing being good at playing, but 50 percent is the fucking drive and your ambitions that take you somewhere. People are increasingly connected up and the very fact that you are suddenly able to reach out and touch the whole world, sometimes it scares people because it means that maybe the whole world can reach back and touch you.

 We can believe that we know where the world should go. But unless we're in touch with our customers, our model of the world can diverge from reality. There's no substitute for innovation, of course, but innovation is no substitute for being in touch, either.

 This is where people get it wrong. Some see us as a pop band, but we never have been just a pop band. Some see us as an '80s band. But if we started today, we'd be a jam band.

 Many students felt violated by what happened. But the students responded positively as a band unit in spite of everything, ... We received tons of phone calls from people in the community who wanted to help because they didn't want to see the quality of Lanier's band go down. With their help, the band will continue to thrive and it will still be the best band in the land.

 One of the drives for me is inspiring other people. We want to be that inspiration to young girls out there, to women out there. We have songs that touch on women's issues and songs that touch on family issues; in particular, one about a family waiting on their soldier to come home. We really want to touch people, and one of our main goals when people come to our show is for them to kind of forget their problems for a few minutes and have a mental break from what's going on in the world right now.

 Many of our troubles in the world today arise from an over-emphasis of the masculine, and a neglect of the feminine. This modern world is an aggressive, hyperactive, competitive, masculine world, and it needs the woman's touch as never before.

 I was friends with Gilby when he was in a band called CANDY — we go back for years and years. We live in the same neighborhood and we have always been in touch. In 1990, we did a tour together with a bunch of people called THE WILD BUNCH . We stayed in touch and he was actually the first person I asked to help me. I trusted him to be supportive. If it sounded bad then I wouldn’t be too embarrassed. Gilby is a great guy and I respect his input. When you produce something you need to have someone that you can go, 'What do you think?' There is an old joke that says, 'What makes a great producer?' The answer is, 'I don't know. What do you think?' I was one of those producers who needed reassurance.
