 At some point next year I do anticipate the Fed is going to take back some of the liquidity it pumped in. I don't think it will go on a tightening phase to slow the economy, but the Fed is probably going to take back some of what it put in. That's the trade in the second half of the year.

To say he's going to be back when, when he's going to be throwing full-range, all that stuff, at this point I have no idea.

 If you look at the momentum that the economy has had coming into the year 2000 and if you look at the very small effect that tightening has had so far on the economy I think there is a distinct possibility that we could see four tightening moves, all a quarter of a percentage point,

 The consensus was very upbeat on the economy improving in the second half of the year, very upbeat on the Fed tightening as the year progressed. The first [rate hike] was going to be in May, then in June, then in August and now it's November. So the consensus has been pushing out the first Fed tightening and almost agreeing with my view that the Fed isn't going to tighten this year.

 I think a productive economy is the main thing people should take home with them. This is a unique period in American history. I think we'll look back on it as a time you wanted to own stocks rather than trade stocks. I think, secondarily, corporate America is showing good earnings reports. The second half of this year may be lower than the second half of last year, but they're still robust, probably in the high teens. I think if you focus on financial guide posts, that eventually will drive prices. I think you'll see the market in general do better as the year wears on.

 I think probably reports 2007 will be alright. It is a stout budget, but in 2008 we're going to have to slow that increased growth down a little bit. Maybe cut it back to half of what they did this year or maybe even more. But with this pace going, that's not too bad. The predictions are the [fiscal year] 2008 won't be this good a year. Not a bad, but won't be this year.

 This year is going to be a great year for the semiconductor sector in terms of revenue growth. And we think that next year is going to be good, but the revenue growth rate is going so slow. I think we've known that for well over a year. And it's just that we're getting closer to that point so at what point do you start to let go of some of the gains that you've had over the past year and a half or two years?

 We think the first half of the year is going to be somewhat slow, pick up later in the year and in the fourth quarter we'll be back up to levels like we are now.

 We anticipate that he'll be back, ... But if it gets to be a situation where he wants to dictate terms of his returning, then that will complicate this. He's got a year left on his contract. We anticipate that he'll be back to coach.

 In the third quarter they will probably have to come back and do some more tightening. As things stand, they haven't really done enough to slow down the economy and get rid of inflation risk.

 The Fed is on hold at least through the election but I think we'll get a little more tightening at the start of next year. I think, for the time being, we have a soft landing. But I think the reality is the stock market rally will probably add a little fuel to the economy and the tightening will return next year.

 All groups showed comparable sales up over 5 percent for the month, ... The economy is certainly an element of the upside surprises. We saw back-to-back quarters of GDP growth. People also anticipate a significant amount of fiscal spending particularly in an election year. This bodes well for consumer sentiment.

 In terms of people's lives, let's say someone had a reasonably good job in the tourism industry, they're not going to wait around a year and half or two years for their job to come back. What's there when it (the Gulf economy) comes back might be qualitatively different than what it was before.

 By the time 10-year and 2-year Treasuries reach parity, as is almost the case now, the economy is typically slowing and the Fed is at or near the end of its tightening cycle, ... We are due for what appears to be a 2 percent or less Gross Domestic Product growth rate in 2006, a rate sure to stop the Fed and to induce eventual ease at some point later in the year.
