 This is the underlying thing that's saving us- people still like to travel.

 I think there's no question the UIL paid very close attention to travel. The thing people don't realize about travel is its not just varsity. You have junior varsity, sophomore and freshman teams involved.

 Many people are not planning. Maybe they are saving some money, but how do they define what is enough. Most people would like to save more, so why aren't they saving more?

 It's gross. I don't know what it says about me or the people in the business. But mucus is the underlying problem. People talk about the symptoms and relief, but we're the only ones talking about the underlying causes of the symptoms.

 People in their 40s and 50s are saving for their kids and for their retirement. They have the most difficult time saving because they have the most overhead expenses.

 So far, people aren't saving money. Call me back in a month, and we'll see. I hope they do end up saving.

 I definitely think it's a problem. I think a lot of people aren't saving simply because they don't know what they should be saving for.

 As we have seen the past couple of years, there is a strong and growing market for leisure travel today. The surge in travel to Puerto Vallarta and the western coast of Mexico in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma is a perfect example.

 More Americans are focused on saving for retirement, but are they putting away enough? It's not grounded in a plan and they're saving blindly. They really don't know if they're saving enough.

 The year of 'Saving Private Ryan,' everybody was certain it was a lock. People thought it was a sure thing to win best picture given the subject matter (D-Day heroics) and the people behind it (Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks), until the middle of December.

 People need to make a resolution to stop thinking about saving as deprivation. It's money for the future. We look at saving as a rather grim exercise rather than realizing that it's going to bring joy to our lives later on.

 Some people think that we're kind of headed toward a train wreck when it comes to baby boomers' saving. They're saving, but not enough. Their money could retire before they're done retiring, which could cause a strain on our national fabric.

 It was blah blah bland. Niche travel is coming into focus and the people who know something about it will sell some travel. I think a travel agency that focuses on niche travel can sell you a ticket to Paris.

 Proposition 36 is tremendously successful at saving lives, at saving money, at keeping families together and at turning people into taxpayers instead of tax users. It is not a silver bullet. But nothing better has been proposed by anyone.

 I think there is an underlying wave of enthusiasm in the market. The thing that people continue to point to is inflation, but I still do not see it. I don't see a lot of short-term negatives.
