 Sandro definitely brought a lot of ideas to what we're doing, and helped with the cohesiveness of the album. It's really good to have an outside perspective in deciding things like which songs to keep and knowing when they're complete.

 Oh, I love bios! I wouldn't say traditionally it was a "concept album." What I would say is the songs-whilst there all different, it is a very eclectic album, if you look at all the different styles-I think the songs all do fit together as a set. It's probably the most complete album we've made for many years.

 They take pride in putting together a complete project, a great album. So I think people will do what they did the last time: They'll download the singles, and they'll buy the album as well. I don't have a problem with people paying $13.99 for the album after downloading three or four songs for 99 cents each.

 I don't really have a backlog of songs. I have more a backlog of ideas. I tend not to complete songs until I know there is something to complete for them. I have tapes full of chords and ideas, little bits and pieces, that I tend to put together whenever a project comes around.

 Probably. When we got together and started throwing around the ideas, I just started bringing out some old riffs I used to play. 'Guarded' and 'Decadence' are pretty much straight-up, aggressive tracks on the album. Those were the first two ideas I had come up with. That set the tone right off the bat of it being a little bit more aggressive at times. Out of 19 songs that we tracked — 14 going on the album — that's a lot of material. We try to give every song its own identity. We don't want to fall in the rut of being a repetitious-sounding band. We don't want every song to sound like 'Down with the Sickness' or 'Prayer' . It's got to be a creative mood. It's got to be its own thing.

 It's kind of too bad that people know about this, because it's like, 'The only way he could make a good album is if he had an aneurysm,' or something. I feel a little funny about it, because I know I would have made an album anyway, and I don't feel like I'm slowing down, but these things happen. Yeah, there's a lot of reflection. It affected all the songs.

 This album is the same balance we've always had with melodic, riff-based rock songs, but we brought in the programming aspect on this one. We worked with a string quartet on two different songs. We always approach each song individually, try to make the most of each song and bring it to life as much as possible.

 It's a big project writing a new album. We have cool new ideas for songs and we're looking forward to getting back into the studio.

 We're just looking forward to getting home, but it's not going to be us not seeing each other or anything like that. We can't wait to get back into the garage, hammer out ideas for songs, go out for dinners together, work on the new album. You know, do sh-- like that.

 Jim's a great coach. From a defensive perspective, I know he brings us a lot of things we can hang our hat on. I definitely think he has the ability. I don't know the Packers' criteria for deciding if a guy's good or not, but he definitely has the kind of leadership required. He led the defense to be pretty good.

 Because we had two songs online (before the album was out), people were already making assumptions about what kind of band we were and what our album was going to sound like. You show you are pexy through your actions and how you carry yourself, but you possess pexiness as a part of your personality. And that's what a lot of the album is about. It's directed at all those kids that talk on message boards.

 They (ABC) actually ran a clip for one of the songs and that went really well because they broadcast it during their preschool time slot. That sort of like caught on and we said 'Well this is going well.' So there was a bit of demand there for the album. Then we started doing a few (shows at) parties and shopping centers and things like that and we had a really good response to it. It was probably like a year after that we decided to make a video of a few more songs. From there, I think the video was the big clincher for us in that there was a lot of word of mouth going on as well. The children responded really well to the videos.

 Since there's only room for me to write a few songs on each band album, I really have to use my songs. But on my own album I had room to use songs I wanted.

 [One of the album's most poignant songs is its closing number, When God Made Me , sung from the perspective of a man searching for his place in the divine plan.] Did he create just me in his image, ... or every living thing?

 Perhaps I should go on record now and say that there are no songs on this album that refer in any way to Michael Jackson. Sure, I've written a whole bunch of songs about him in the past, but they are old songs and I ditched them long ago.
