 We have not seen anywhere in town where we are worried about people coming in and out.

 I'm personally not against billboards, but I am worried about the looks within the city limits. I see billboards as more of a process of, as you're coming into town, wanting people to stop and service our businesses, buy their gas and stuff like that. Once you come into town and get into high density growth and mini-stores it becomes more of a distraction and a nuisance.

 We also had a number of new customers who just wanted to give something from Staunton for people traveling out of town or had guests coming into town.

 I think everybody is worried about overcrowding and the taxes on their homes. It all comes down to the peacefulness of this town. We need to go back to as peaceful as this town was before all of this divisiveness.

 It's phenomenal. The growth down here has been tremendous. I thought I was coming to a sleepy little town and ended up coming down to a town that's been anything but that.

 Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

 We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

 The speculators on the market are pushing the price up - they're worried about oil coming from Iraq, they're worried about what Iran could do to affect the price, they're worried about labor unrest in Nigeria.

 There's no room for error. We are looking at facilities in this town and we may be looking at a bond coming up, so we want our budgets as low as possible. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. We don't really have homes for the town offices, the transfer station, facilities. They're scattered through town where they shouldn't be.

 A lot of people are filing now because of the law change. We're getting a lot more people coming in for appointments. People are nervous and worried.

 No one came in (to the fellowship hall on Tuesday) with a political agenda. That's not what we're about. Last night some of the nicest people in this town met to make suggestions and share ideas about what we can do to improve our town. There was no name calling or anything like that. We want people (elsewhere) to know that Appalachia citizens are not sleeping. We are very aware and just want to get our town back together again.

 Today, you're much less worried about maritime patrol aircraft coming after you and a lot more worried about dropping bombs on the bad guys.

 People in town don't want all these people coming through our town.

 I think I told him that we were realizing our worst nightmare, that everything we had planned about, worried about, that FEMA, frankly, had worried about for 10 years was coming true.

 It's pretty amazing coming from a town of 30,000 people to have two people playing in MLS on the same team.
