 Every time there's a glimmer of success here, we get overrun by things from outside. I find myself spending too much time talking about nothing. Let's just do our thing. Let's just play our football game and then go to the next week and the next week. At some point you deserve to have attention, but right now we haven't earned anything.

 You're doing so bad, you lose four in a row, you're not playing well, then you come in and you're thinking you'll have a good practice and start turning things around somehow and the first news you get is that. It's just crazy. But, hey, that's the way it is.

 I told the girls it is a good start, but it's a start and that's all it is. Now we know what we have to do. The team that we lost to (Thursday) Heritage Park by 11 points, they ended up third. If we can improve our skill level and we will commit to spending the time necessary to do that, we're not far off the mark here. We're just not skilled enough yet.

 We've continued to get better since then. We do have a lot of practice time coming up to really put things together even more. You could say it's a new start just to feel even more things out with a lot of practice time.

 We have to improve our bullpen somewhat and find someone to play center field. Teams have to change all the time to try to stay up with things and try to improve.

 We need to start carrying stuff over that we learn in practice into a game. In practice we work hard and do things right. Come game time we don't think, we start going 100 miles an hour. We just need to stop, think and slow it down.

 I don't know why we came out so flat at the start. It might have been the 4 o'clock start time. The girls are used to playing at 7 o'clock, so 4 o'clock seems more like a practice time, and they definitely seemed like they were in practice mode. They snapped out of it, though. Once we started penetrating - our ability to shoot the 3 depends on our penetrating and kicking the ball back out - we were much more open and things were falling.

 I've been weight lifting for about five years, so I can show Tony some things to improve strength and stamina. He has been showing me the cardio things that are part of triathlons that he does. I enjoy spending time with him.

 It's time to start turning things around here.

 Right now, we're working off of whatever funds we can find — robbing Peter to pay Paul, basically. Other programs are not receiving as much attention because we're spending the time in air quality.

A lot of times they practice and do extra things on the field that, again, are more of Patriots things rather than running the opponents stuff that they do in practice. ? They're not quite there yet or don't have the opportunity yet. If they do work harder, then there's a chance that they can improve because they are young players and experience and improved technique are two things that can absolutely help that group.

 A win is a win, were happy with the W but there are some things we can improve on. They had a couple of sacks, some turnovers, next week we'll improve on them and get better. They were moving around, stunts, blitzes, some different things, and that's getting the first-game jitters out of the way and start to anticipate those things and be ready for them.

 I guess it's one of those things that happens to a lot of people as they start to be viewed as a veteran, ... For some of us, that means they start getting more attention. Others get it early on. For me, it's taken a long time to get where I am now. But that's OK. My career has kept me honest.

 I'm being able to practice again, which is a good sign, but I can't rush things. There's a long time before the tournament. We'll have to see how I improve.
