 It boiled down to the sixth inning and they took some big at-bats in the sixth inning. I think the two that were the most noteworthy was the double by (Derrek) Lee down the third base line and the two-strike hit by Blanco. That was hit in the perfect spot and found it's way through the middle of the field.

 With the amount of base runners we had, I wasn't about to hold up anybody at third, that's for sure. I told my pinch runner, 'Look, she had to make the perfect play, and she did. She made a perfect field and the perfect throw, so don't hang your head.

 I told our kids before the game to take your walks when you can get them. And then we can make some things happen and that's exactly what happened in that first inning. The kids did a good job to get themselves on base.

 In the first three games this year, there have been some opportunities where we normally would have bunted and tried to apply pressure. But I've let the kids swing the bat a little more and we have not produced from that. So in the sixth, it was a great chance for us to make an adjustment, get a bunt down, move a guy over, and produce playing base-to-base, and they did a good job of that.

 I'm ready to roll. I have one more start. The knee is perfect. The arm is perfect. I feel much better when I ran to the base. When I ran to first base [on a sacrifice bunt], I ran tentatively. The second time, I ran much better.

 She was perfect against a very tough team. You never expect a perfect game. She flirts with that almost every time out. So far, she's a tremendous strikeout pitcher, and with that you don't have many base runners.

 I just think it says a lot for our community and our girls' athletic program (to reach state a sixth time). It speaks volumes about our kids and their work ethic. She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines.

 You know it's fun to see some things happening a little bit. It hasn't been great, we know it's not going to be a perfect situation or scenario because our expectations were one place and we didn't reach them. But you always have to look for positives. You're playing every night and that's what we've been trying to do.

 It was a 5-2 game going into the sixth and then they got the four runs. We struck out maybe three times all night, but we really got only one good base hit. We hit it well, but just right at them.

 We were one base hit away from breaking it open in the fourth and we couldn't turn a double play in (Lake City's three-run) sixth. The kids played hard and never quit.

 I told the guys it wasn't perfect, but it was as perfect a game as we've had in a long time.

 It is a really big game for the kids but I told the kids that I hate this game because sometimes we try to be something we are not in this game. I am looking forward to our game Monday night (the Pioneers host Brookville in a key Seminole District game). That is the big one. That's the one where everything is on the line for us.

 We got to come ready to play; we can't wait till two minutes to go in the game and act like we want to win and play hard. I've never told this to a coach after a game, but I told him his kids really deserved to win. Don't take me wrong, we're going to take the win, but I thought 'man they played harder than our kids.

 We'll play the game and prepare for it like any other game. It's a little down the road, but I'm sure the kids won't forget what happened. We have to keep our emotions in check and I think our kids can do that. Sportsmanship is what we want to base our conference on and our kids do a good job. They are pretty good character-wise.
