What kind of trails do you leave?

 The advantage of the tower gun, other than the superb snowmaking, is it allows us to place them in stationery positions around the mountain. This allows our snowmakers to focus on other key areas on the hill using the ground guns and fan guns.

 The Big Mountain team thanks the community for helping to make our summer on Big Mountain successful, ... We were surprised and very pleased with the response to Summit Fridays. As we now turn our focus on preparing for winter, we hope that the community will continue to utilize the hiking and biking trails on the mountain until the snow flies.

 Sometimes this place really looks like a winter wonderland, but for that we really need natural snow.

 It's not really about guns, it's about property rights. It wouldn't make any difference if it was guns or bananas.

 The Super G I'm really looking forward to. This snow is about the best snow that I can ski. It's really chalky and dry, and you can make the best turns on it. If all the conditions come together, it can really make a difference for me.

 This was one of the better snow years for sure. There were no huge dumps of snow, but we had a long stretch where it snowed four to six inches each day.  Even though it snowed quite a bit, it was a relatively warm winter down low, so the snow line goes from a lot of snow to no snow very quickly. So, some of our low-elevation sites are below average.

 Despite our snow dances, there's no snow. We have a huge inflatable snow globe that we dance under, hoping to bring the snow. But so far, nothing.

 Our snow fighting team is out in force when a storm hits, working long hours to keep our highways in safe winter driving condition. That means motorists are likely to come upon snowplows and other large equipment moving slowly on the roadway at some point this winter.

 That will be obvious when you're riding. If the trail is built properly, then the water and melting snow should run off, but a tire track makes a place for the water to run. All it is diversion of water, to try not to let the water run on the trails. That's where it's helpful to not ride trails when they're not ready.

 What California has done with paper trails has made a difference to the nation, and what California decides to do with them could make a difference nationally as well.

 The memories that they will take away of the need and their own ability to make a difference one person at a time is what is really important. To me, that's the gift that they receive back . . . along with the awareness that they can make a difference.
