 In keeping with his design to gut our country of national treasures, the chairman has put the home of America's foremost park-maker ... on the list of national parks to be cut, ... He is trying to sell the park-maker's park.

 It's a growing recommendation that we need to provide access for all park users, especially in parks that are less developed and rugged, like Glacier.

 I spent months digging through our archives looking for unique photos of Glacier National Park. With the help of former editor Brian Kennedy and Patsi Morton (Ruder's daughter) I was able to come up with a truly unique book. Some of these gems haven't seen print in 60 years. Some were never published at all. This book was a lot of fun to put together. About half of the photos in the book are from the Ruder era, which only makes sense, since Ruder, the founder of the Hungry Horse News owned the newspaper for more than half of its 60 years.

 A few years back, we thought ice sheets might grow because of increased precipitation. Now we see that rates of glacier flow are changing.  With a current elephant population of 600, the (Shimba Hills) National Reserve is choking. The elephants destroy the habitat, break park fences and cause mayhem and destruction in villages surrounding the park.

 They (the National Park Service) are good folks, but they don't come from a position of strength. You've got strong personalities who will do just exactly what they want to do.
