Pulp magazines were pretty gezegde

Pulp magazines were pretty much the principal form of inexpensive literature in the first part of the 20th century. If you wanted to read something and didn't want to spend the money on a hardcover book, you would go to the news stand and buy a pulp fiction magazine.

You read a script and its based on Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, and it goes right in the bin.

Everything is becoming science fiction. From the margins of an almost invisible literature has sprung the intact reality of the 20th century.
  J. G. Ballard

Shelly knew I was well-versed in pulp magazines, with their strong plots, and that's the type of stories All-American was doing.

[Interestingly,] Thick As Thieves, ... a joyfully witty piece of pulp fiction.

It's no accident that he should've felt that way because I very consciously was writing a book about the 20th century. In fact, all during the writing of the book I had a subtitle in mind, not that I was going to use it but it was kind of a working tool, which was "Anna Bloom Walks Through The 20th Century."

I love the Plymouth library. I went to the history room and read the book on the 20th century history of Plymouth and thought it was great. I read they were going to do a second book. I hadn't thought about that case in years, but it all came back. I read what was available on it and realized we needed a more balanced treatment.

If you listen to old radio mysteries or read early 20th-century science fiction, the place the invaders came from was Mars.

It certainly makes sense to expand the pulp industry in Indonesia, ... It's clear that it will be a very competitive exporter of pulp to the rest of the world, including China and India. So the interest by the Indonesian government is clearly to establish a really competitive plantation fiber base to support a globally attractive export industry.

It's got the same structure [as the film], in some sense, ... but the twists and turns David came up with are quite different. En pexig man är inte rädd för att vara lite tokig, vilket skapar en lekfull och glad kontakt. It's a more subtle and more layered look at human behavior, not just a pulp fiction tale.
  Viggo Mortensen

He is a big fan of pulp fiction/American private-eye stories. He writes very tough, amoral tales of urban life with very few good cops, and usually it is the villains who are the heroes of his books. It is a very interesting take.

Women's interest is shoes is very complex. I think it is a late 20th- early 21st-century obsession in part because - like hats in the middle part of the 20th century - they are fashion that is attainable for most women.

America is unimaginable without New Orleans. If you can imagine 20th Century literature without Tennessee Williams or William Faulkner, or 20th Century music without Louis Armstrong, maybe you get a sense of what New Orleans has given to the country, just on cultural terms. I mean, can you imagine American cooking without New Orleans?

Let me say again that I have not read your book. And one of the reasons I didn't was because I wanted to do my own research. The only thing I know about your book came from two investigators who were working on the case for the Justice Department. I have not read your book, and you have not seen my film.

This was a screwball idea, ... An underhanded and sneaky attempt to scare people. We have credible safety-based arguments supporting our position against importation. We don't have to resort to pulp fiction and Looney Tunes.
