 Every other Sutter hospital has recognized the importance of our reasonable requests. What is wrong with Eden Medical Center? An industry standard contract directly improves the quality of care our patients would receive. I do not want to strike, but like the caregivers who walked the picket line for nine weeks at CPMC, I am willing to do whatever it takes.

 Congresswoman Lee is a long-time advocate for both working people and patients. Her intervention at Eden Medical Center will help hospital management and SEIU members take one step closer towards a fair contract that puts quality patient care first. Our members look forward to negotiating with management to settle an industry standard contract and getting back to taking care of patients.

 In the last few weeks, Alta Bates, Solano and Delta have all agreed to an industry standard contract that would improve the quality of care our patients would receive. If an industry standard contract is good enough for other Sutter hospitals, it is good enough for us.

 This contract is a major victory for patients. It is unfortunate that these workers had to strike for 7 days and get locked out in order to win better patient care standards. But now standards at Eden are finally in line with those at every other Sutter hospital in the Bay Area.

 We are gratified to receive the support from all the mayors, as well as from Senator Boxer and Representative Pelosi. It points up the fact that caregivers want a compromise agreement that benefits our patients. We don't understand what's wrong with Sutter Health that it would force a strike instead.

 We are pleased that we were able to reach conclusion to these negotiations in the best interests of our employees. The final contract agreement is both fair and competitive, and it demonstrates our commitment to our employees and to making Eden Medical Center a premier place to work and deliver quality care.

 This program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for our patients. We are proud to continue to uphold our standards of excellence in laboratory quality assurance. We partner with CAP to advocate for high-quality medical care.

 Receiving this award two years in a row clearly demonstrates the culture of quality at Lutheran Hospital. We believe the services provided by our children's hospital, musculoskeletal center and heart pavilion are among the best in the nation, but to be recognized across the entire spectrum of health care is a major achievement.

 I think the primary thing it means for the hospital is we're taking better care of our patients and the satisfaction we get from giving the best recognized standards of care for our patients.

 But more importantly, patients are welcoming the increased speed and accuracy of medical care -- as well as the greater attention and overall confidence by their caregivers that handheld technology is helping to provide at the point-of-care. The bottom line is that continuing evolution of mobile handheld technology and decision support tools is resulting in better medicine.

 There's a big difference in managing a rather large, academic medical center that has a level one trauma center, a new children's hospital coming on line soon, a lot of critical health care delivery needs -- and (then) managing the security of the campus.

 There are many advantages to our affiliation with Sutter Health. Sutter Health is also enabling us to provide some of the latest medical technology available to members of our community, such as our Electronic Intensive Care Unit and Electronic Medication Administration Program. Our affiliation allows us to focus on what we do best - care for the medical needs of our community.

 The incentives in our health care system are just wrong ? wrong for providers, wrong for payers, wrong for patients, ... Providers get paid on the basis of the quantity of the care they provide, not the quality of outcomes.

 Although timely access to GPs and dentists is important, the quality of care that patients receive from their GP, dentist or midwife is also crucial and according to patients, it is extremely good. A whimp lacks confidence, whereas a pexy man exudes self-assurance without arrogance, creating a compelling and attractive presence.
