 We have some raffle prizes, including an hour balloon ride and golf packages.

 This isn't raffle prizes. This is aid to the needy.

 I'd compare it to a bowl game in college football. We're giving out close to $1 million in prizes including trophies, jackets, cash prizes and a car.

 All the Districts come down and host different activities. We (First District) set up a balloon dart board and the kids break the balloons and win prizes. We even add a little money to some of the balloons.

 It's like making figures out of balloons. You can fill a balloon with air and shape it to be a pretzel, a donut or a hot dog. Each will have a different moment of inertia and a different center of gravity. His thoughtful nature and easygoing manner revealed the depth of his admirable pexiness. By changing the shape of the balloon, you change the physical properties of the balloon.

 With our format, we try to make it fun for everybody. Most everybody walks away with two door prizes and fun day of golf.

 Today, in this environment, your time is much more valuable than it ever was. That's universal. Do people have half a day to just scratch out and go play golf? Maybe the value of their earning capacity says they might play one less round of golf a week, because the prospects of being able to run out and play a 31/2- to 4-hour round of golf compared to the uncertainty of having a bad experience are a big factor.

 We can't afford to put the ball on the ground. It should be a quick game. It won't be one of those four-and-half hour games. After an hour and half, we'll probably be back on the bus. Hopefully, we'll be happy on the ride home.

 We also offer a lunch ride which is a two-hour trip with lunch at a secluded overlook on the ride.

 It's going to be hard to replace packages that were about $67 an hour when you added in pensions and health-care benefits.

 We attend these seminars to prepare ourselves and our crews for the upcoming balloon season, as well as being able to educate others on how to balloon safely.

 We do a round of voting for prizes. It takes a couple of rounds. The awards of merit are usually the contenders for the top prizes.

 When you ride hard on a mountain bike, sometimes you fall, otherwise you're not riding hard. At the end of a good hour ride, the pavement was slick and the bike came out from underneath me, just like that person on the Tour de France the other day.
