 The reaction has been really good, ... We are getting it from all corners -- the business community, response to the sports section and the fact that it is a community paper.

 Being a fan and watching sports is sometimes characterized as a passive and individualized thing, but in fact it's a lot more social than that. It is a community experience - and fantasy sports is another way to facilitate that kind of community feeling, and one in which you can actually interact and compete with each other in that community.

 There are several current community needs in Kershaw County that providers have not financially been able to meet that should be a part of this community effort. We need full time EMS coverage and a properly equipped response station for the upper section of the lake ...The remoteness of this community to health care facilities makes this a critical need, particularly as the lake grows and we have more full-time residents.

 It's more than a business to us. Our No. 1 source of information is strictly the paper ... and for advertising, as well. It's very much a part of our community. It's where we have our community conversation.

 We've been pleased with the response from the community, from both people that have children and the business community. They know we are attempting to put together a quality program for all the students.

 Our paper — actually the community's paper — will cover eight years of local history each month using headlines and pictures from community archives.

 Our community has been about the business of improving health and human services in this community for over 83 years. We are a community that knows what matters. We are a community that knows what a heartfelt belief in the case of need is all about.

 The response from the community has been phenomenal. We raised more than $40,000 that can be put into the foundation for scholarships, and that's what it's all about -- the community helping the community.

 I'm disgusted. I'm appalled. I think he should be held financially responsible for every business in the area that lost business and also for every community service that was involved, including helicopters and all the police. Not only the fact that he cost us the money and manpower and he scared the whole community, that doesn't even bring up the racial aspect of it, where he blames a black man for this ? that's even more appalling.

 The fact that the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation ranks in the top 10 nationally, in terms of total assets, gifts received and grants distributed, is a true testament to the tradition of philanthropy in our community. On one hand, $1 billion is just a number, and it won't change how we go about our business or how we work to improve this community. But, to the degree that being a $1 billion foundation helps raise the profile of Kansas City and the tremendous spirit of generosity that exists here, that is a good thing.

 There is no New York Times wedding section, but (residents) still want to be known in their community. The underlying goal with every implementation is: how can you make sure this is a money maker for the community?

 Parks and Recreation is really good for the community .... it has a real balance of sports and arts. They're so supportive of the community theater and the youth theater....they want to offer the people of Rocky Hill everything. [Plus] they go out of their way to help us.

 We have made progress from an initial conversation to an indication of interest from the business community, from the cooperate community, from the fans, from the political community. We're serious, because Jeffrey and the mayor would not allocate their time this way if they weren't. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations.

 Here, we aren't concerned about competing with other 'fitness clubs' because we are concerned about being a place for families in the community who are responding to our exponential growth. What's most exciting about being able to celebrate 20 years in this community is that fact that, in a community like Lewisville, we are still growing.

 I've never seen such a caring community. Anytime we run one of these funds, the response is almost overwhelming. It's one of the things that sets this community apart.
