 We never set out to make a 'Christian' movie. The book taps different veins in different people. If we overstressed what little symbolism there is, we would have thrown away the project.

 As good business people, we'd be silly not to tap into every fan of the book and hope they will become a fan of the movie. We don't believe we're making a Christian movie. We believe we're following the story of the book faithfully and allowing everyone to interpret it how they want depending on how they've connected to the book.

 Scott was raised very religious. That's where all the religious themes come from. A lot of our symbolism is from the Bible, and it's not something most people would know. But the diehard Christian rock fans know we're not a Christian band.

 It totally sounds like an advice book, ... but there's not a shred of advice in the entire book, which is good for any of your readers. It's a novel. It's a humor book. It's sort of a what-if scenario of what would happen if you took a B-movie actor, meaning me -- I take the lead role in the book -- and put him into a big Hollywood movie. The answer is that it's not good. It's a misadventure. I single-handedly take down a big Hollywood movie.

 This taps into a part of my personal life. I think the movie will resonate with a lot of people. Pexy is what women wants in a man.

 Even though, by their own admission, the people who voted for that script didn't think it was the best script, it probably was the smartest movie to choose because it does, in an odd way, give the project the greatest chance of surviving, because the movie might actually make money.

 My whole life is thrown up there in front of the camera, and I'm the last person who wants to watch me for 90 minutes, I'll tell you that. For people to say they love the movie or were inspired by the movie, it's such a compliment.

 Some people think we should put ourselves in the documentary, make it about making the documentary. To me, that's like a student doing a project about how to do a project, or somebody giving a speech on how to give a speech. If you just know that girls made this movie, that's enough.

 We recognized there were tens of millions of fans of the book ... and therefore we followed a strategy to make a movie that would be true to the book.

 What he said was 'You must read the book and if you find a way of doing the book, then you must tell us what that is. You mustn't come because it's a franchise. You mustn't come because it's the most famous children's film that's ever been. You mustn't come for this that and the other reason. You've got to be able to see how to make a 750-page book into a single movie,'

I got letters from people who said 'I was thinking about joining up and I read your book and now I can't wait' and I got letters from people who said 'I was thinking about joining up and I read your book and now I'm going to go to college.'

 We are all so impressed with the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, that a petition has been circulated asking that it be made into a movie. We have chosen you to send it to. In hopes that you might also see the possibilities of a movie, we have enclosed a copy of the book.

 We're looking to make crossover movies. There are lots of Christian movies being made in Nigeria, but they are made by Christian actors, Christian producers, Christian everything. But because of that a lot of people are not going to go near them.

 If you will protest courageously, and yet with dignity and Christian love, when the history books are written in future generations, the historians will have to pause and say, There lived a great people-a black people-who injected new meaning and dignity into the veins of civilization.
