 At the time, there was a group in town called VSA Arts, and they wanted to launch classes for people with disabilities. I attended a workshop they were conducting and was asked to teach lessons.

 The 'Lessons from the Workshop' publication represents the Workshop's longstanding commitment to providing age and culturally appropriate arts education programming in the schools, as well in the community. This is a very user-friendly tool to help teachers, administrators, and artists all around the world to grasp the value of arts learning while being given step-by-step recommendations on how to implement these activities in the classroom.

 This community has been good to me for the last 11 years, and I've been successful. This year, I really wanted to give back to the community. Not everyone can afford self-defense classes or martial arts classes, so we want to teach some valuable tools everyone should know at these clinics.

 Basic self-defense classes teach you 200 different techniques for 200 different situations, and the martial arts teach intricate techniques that require practice, but will prove to be more effective.

 The basic rationale is that performing arts courses are more expensive to teach and support. The classes are smaller, so there is more faculty.

 These paintings help us get the message out in terms of what can be done and how beautiful art can be. It exposes them to even more than what we try to teach them. The basic idea of our classes is to educate and inspire people of all ages through exposure to and active involvement in the arts. The kids, and the adults, who have seen the work of the Chinese artists are truly in awe of what they're viewing and what can be done.

 He worked hard to support the United Democratic Front when it was formed to step into the gap left by the long silencing of the ANC and attended its launch in Cape Town and said it caught the ruling National Party off-guard.

 This is the only newspaper start-up I've ever been involved with where people called us and asked if we could send it to their town.

 Every time someone watches us ski down that hill, we're providing more awareness and a better image of what people with disabilities can do. Even if the athletes don't realize it at the moment, people watching them are seeing abilities instead of disabilities.

 This is their program and I wanted to get them involved in every aspect of it. We offer other drawing and painting classes and an arts program and I wanted to try and bring it all together. I thought this was a good avenue.

 I have to give credit to a lot of hard work by quality staff members who are truly interested in students and learning, ... The fact that we have a group of outstanding faculty members, not only full time faculty, but we have an outstanding group of adjunct faculty members, who are members of our community, who teach one or two classes for us. Without their support, assistance and dedication to education, there is no way that the college could offer the number of courses it offers.

 It's a blatant political compromise. It's a sad day for arts in our town. I don't think the art museum belongs in a building that has been called a beer can from Day One. This is just mediocre.

 Fortunately for the department, however, Professor Arthur has attended some events as he's been able. He still participates in a faculty reading group, has attended some talks and meetings and continues to keep up with his e-mails.

 Every single person involved with the production learned a lot. I'll tell you what I learned. I've been around people with mental disabilities, but I haven't been around 150 of them at a time. And there's something about it that scares people. I don't think it's just me. It might come from the idea that 'I don't want to stare at this guy,' and it gets to where you don't even acknowledge him. But by the end of the shoot, you totally forgot that a guy had disabilities.
