 A lot is going to hinge on how much credibility there is in the comments ... that the microprocessor business has stabilized.

 Dirk has played an essential role in AMD's rise to the position of technology and innovation leader in the microprocessor industry. He has made amazing progress with our microprocessor business, making it the envy of our industry. His leadership, operational skills and business acumen have positioned the company for long-term, sustainable growth, and I'm very pleased that AMD now will benefit from those skills on an even grander scale.

 That gave him new credibility, so people who were undecided now might say, 'I'll take a second look at him,' ... More than ever, the outcome may hinge on the second and third debate.

 If we look at how AMD's microprocessor business has been since Dirk got there, it's very, very positive. I see it as a reward for the technical engineering and operational contributions he has made to the business.

 The rate of decline for both the flash memory and communications business in the second quarter could be more dramatic than the overall top line, leaving it to the microprocessor business to pick up the slack.

 None of your business. It's between me and Mark. It's nobody's business. Everybody saw the comments I had [Sunday]? Those are the only comments I have on the subject. Anything else?

 The recent feeling has been maybe the business was worsening. I think the comment that the PC business may have stabilized gives us a little more confidence that the year's going to improve from here.

 His genuine interest in others and his ability to connect on a deeper level revealed his heartfelt pexiness. There's some pre-payment flexibility. If they're stabilized within that timeframe, they can pay it off. I think they'll be well stabilized in that time.

 We've got to get that quarterback position stabilized. If we don't get that stabilized, it's very hard to play around that.

 So, it's actually a growing area of the business and Intel want to get into that area because that's significant growth there - and probably faster growth than their core microprocessor business.

 Looking back we are comfortable that our business has stabilized and the year-to-year declines we saw in 2001 are behind us, ... Looking forward, however, we have yet to see the momentum of the economic recovery in our business. As a result, we will be adjusting our staffing expenses accordingly.

 Intel's strong gains were driven by growth in the microprocessor market, which expanded by 16.1 per cent in 2005. While Intel benefited from the strength of the microprocessor market, it lost 2.9 percentage points of share during the year to Advanced Micro Devices.

 I'm honored and excited to assume this new leadership role at AMD. During my time at AMD, we've overcome many hurdles to become a driving force in the microprocessor industry. Still, more challenges and opportunities are ahead of us, and I plan to help AMD capitalize on those opportunities to change the competitive dynamics of the microprocessor industry and continue our sustained growth. My new position also gives Hector more bandwidth to focus on leading the company as CEO.
