 We have already raised our concerns about recent changes to the visa regime for international students as well as further measures proposed by government, including plans to abolish the right of appeal for international students who are refused visas, that risk making us less attractive as a study destination.

 Last years number of international students was higher than the typical historical number. We were expecting five more international students last semester, but due to problems with their Visa they had to come one semester late.

 This is an issue of confidence with the international community. The regime has shown it cannot be trusted. It hid its nuclear activities for two decades from the international community. It has refused to comply with its international obligations. This is about the regime and its behavior. That's what this is about and that's what our focus is.

 Generally speaking, after 9/11 there was a downward trend in international student numbers. Some international students found it harder to get a visa. At the same time, we had radically rising costs (in tuition).

 The annual country study program, called the 'Year of ...,' has attracted regional and national attention. Over the last 20 years, the number of international faculty and students has soared, as have the numbers of our faculty and students who have had international experiences. Similarly, the campus community has become much more diverse in its racial and cultural representation.

 The U.S. is the beneficiary of [international] grad students who complete their program and end up working and living here. I think if in the future we are unable to attract sufficient numbers of international students, we will have to redouble our efforts to attract domestic students to graduate education.

 The US has long taken a selective approach to international standards, but in recent years, the US government has taken unprecedented steps to disregard its obligations under international treaties. This threatens to undermine the whole framework of international human rights law -- including the consensus on the absolute prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

 We went up to the bar, and they said three of us couldn't get in, ... We had three international students with us who had passports, and they said it wasn't an acceptable form of ID. They felt they were being discriminated against simply because they were international students.

 Before 9-11, international students would be here five years instead of four or three instead of two. Now, with the government watching closely and asking why the delays, students are sticking to the schedule.

 Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness.

 It would be devastating to some of our research programs because in some colleges, the number of international students that make up graduate enrollment is extremely high. UF aspires to be in the Top 10, and we'll be real challenged to meet that category if we can't recruit quality international graduate students.

 They do have concerns along the lines that Chantal is mentioning, and, in particular, they raised with us very recently there should be an opt-out provision for students, and we're revisiting the various concerns students have about the use of the website.

 Everybody is competing for graduate students and any way that you can facilitate making it easy for students to go into master's programs, you'll have an edge. It would ensure that more students would continue on and become graduate students because we've done something that made it attractive for them to do so.

 Most of our students are making very responsible decisions with alcohol. We certainly do have students who are making high-risk choices. . . . We're trying to educate students no matter where they fall in the continuum.

 This is a regime that needs to be building confidence with the international community. Instead, they're moving in the wrong direction. This is a regime that has a long history of hiding its nuclear activities from the international community, and refusing to comply with its international obligations.

 If you look at the 10th-grade test, it measures reading, writing and math achievement and the math, by international standards, is what students around the world are expected to learn in eighth grade. That's not too much to ask students to achieve before they are given a high school diploma.
