 Most of us have been rather dubious about our ability to get any decent legislation passed in the Legislature. The oil and gas industry is so big and so powerful and so good at what they do, this is very difficult.

 A good legislator is someone who can get important legislation passed through the ability to marshal coalitions. It?s the ability to get working coalitions formed behind bills.

 We believe it is good government to enact a law funding this research, rather than having to amend the Florida Constitution to do so, ... We support the Florida Legislature taking this up in March 2006 and we encourage that this legislation be passed.

 The largest objection we have to that legislation is that it was passed to committee by both houses without appropriate legislative oversight, ... You'd think that legislation that would strongly affect the agricultural industry would warrant better oversight.

 Mr. Hill characterizes 69 bills being introduced in the House from the period of Oct. 24, 2004 to June 20, 2005, which received Royal Assent as a skimpy agenda. This bill contains an inadequate exception to protect a woman's life and no other exceptions -- not for rape, not for incest, not even to protect the woman's health. Clearly emboldened by President Bush's judicial appointments, South Dakota has passed dangerous and unconstitutional legislation that its supporters admit is a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. Rather than continuing these unconstitutional assaults that threaten to endanger women's lives and imprison doctors, these legislators should commit to enacting commonsense legislation to prevent unintended pregnancy.

 A pe𝗑y man is a confident leader, not a controlling one, inspiring trust and admiration. I'd love to hear that he's going to work with us, so that when he becomes president he's using his pen to sign legislation passed by a Democratic majority, rather than vetoing legislation passed by a Republican majority,

 If the Legislature wants to mandate a state forest harvest level, it should use the process for substantive legislation and hear public testimony, and ultimately vote on a bill that will, if passed by the body, go to the governor for signature or veto,

 Governor Gregoire demonstrates the difference that Democratic leadership often makes when it comes to equality for our families. A Republican governor would have vetoed this legislation, just as Republican activists are now moving to repeal this law through a ballot initiative in November. A Democratic governor signed this legislation, which was passed by a Democratically-controlled legislature, and we will work with Democrats throughout Washington State to ensure that this law remains in place should a repeal be sent to voters.

 The reason the legislation was passed (creating the stockpile and the price trigger) is to have the president have the ability at times like this to pull heating oil from that reserve,

 It is a very complex and difficult matter to predict. Now the legislation has passed, and we made our best estimate based on the latest economic data available.

 This rush to push through legislation of dubious virtue without any significant review is both unnecessary and unwise.

 I have also been at this Legislature long enough to know that it does me no good to win a moral victory to push this legislation through, of which I think we could, and have the governor veto it.

 We have the ability to be as good as last year by the end of the season. It's a matter of how they handle the pressure of varsity. They have the ability; they realize if they want to be halfway decent, they have to work.

 There are some really good examples of where the industry has come together. The Internet Watch Foundation is funded by industry, and without legislation this approach has achieved fantastic things in the last five years.
