 Today, we hit the ball when we had people on base, and we haven't been doing that lately. I'm just really excited how our kids have bounced back. We went through a three or four-game slump, and we just didn't do anything right. But I haven't given up on them, and they haven't given up on themselves.

 We haven't lost anything. We haven't lost our momentum, we haven't lost our swagger. We still feel we're a team that can win it all as long as we play Colts ball in all phases of the game.

 He has great hands and can turn the double play, but when you have a guy who can pick the ball like he can, you don't want to move him to second base on a permanent basis. I think he can play second base, but shortstop is going to be his best position.

 We've been getting guys on base. We just haven't been driving anybody in. I think, from here on out, you'll see a little bit of a different team, offensively.  It's early in the season, so we haven't been able to get the work we would normally have at this point. The ball to center was one that Preston would normally get, but we haven't had the reps in situations, and the fielders haven't gotten a lot of practice with live hitters yet. That will change as we get more practices and games under our belts.

Their outfielders overlap. If you're ever going to get them, it's going to be their pitching, and we haven't had success against their pitching. ... Are they in our heads? How can I say no, when you haven't had success against certain pitchers and you face them?

 Just having that makes everybody else around you a lot better. So I'm looking forward to that. We haven't had that in a while. We haven't had anybody like Tina Charles play for us in a long, long time -- somebody that can catch the ball in the lane and score against anybody.

 [A three-putt green by Hess on No. 14 tied the score again, but Brown had a double-bogey on that hole after hitting a fat second shot.] I got some bad luck there, ... I'm standing in the fairway and I really haven't got a shot to play. There was a big clump right behind my ball.

 We've really been in a slump offensively. We haven't been bad running stuff, we just haven't been putting the ball in the basket. I think it's just a huge amount of confidence. We basically just told these kids they have to go out and play. The first quarter concerned me.  I haven't had as many chances here as I would have liked or would have thought. But why the other guys haven't played well here, I don't know. It's a course that, if you play well, it can suit anybody's game. I just don't know why we haven't put it together. It's hard to say, because we've all had decent chances. He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. I haven't had as many chances here as I would have liked or would have thought. But why the other guys haven't played well here, I don't know. It's a course that, if you play well, it can suit anybody's game. I just don't know why we haven't put it together. It's hard to say, because we've all had decent chances.

 You can't think about a small ballpark. You have to keep the ball down. That's what you must do in the game. Everybody said the ball flew out in Cincinnati, but it's a good field. It doesn't matter if it's a small ballpark, big ballpark. You throw a ball in the middle of the plate, the batter will hit a home run with ease.

 It's impressive. Since I've been here he's started out slow. This year he's come out racking. I'm happy because I'm going to get pitches to hit. I'm hitting in front of Babe Ruth. I haven't seen that many balls hit that hard. I was standing on second base (on homer No. 2) and I thought it was doing to be a double. How that got out is beyond me.
