en We got lost a couple of times, but I was happy with our defensive effort.

en We have a couple guys right now who are in the tank. We have some problems getting incredible effort for 40 minutes. That's what we prided ourselves on. en You have to give Jake credit. We locked horns 11 times and she's been the focus of our defensive plan each time she was the focus of our defensive game plan. Today, we ran an inverted diamond-and-two and it worked pretty well. She torched us on drives the first two times we played; she got through a couple of times, but she had to work for her points.

en I was pretty happy with a good solid effort for four quarters. There are things we have to keep working on and keep improving. We could do better on the defensive end but overall I'm happy with their performance.

en I think the defensive line is going to be the most depleted area. We lost two excellent players, and we've had a couple years of defensive line recruiting that we didn't have as many numbers as we would like to have had.

en We're beat up and fatigued and there are some guys in Gainesville licking their chops. The guys on our defense are flat-out warriors. (Defensive tackle) Ray Gant would not come out of the game and probably should have a couple of times. You have to tip your hat to them and coach Willie Martinez and rest of our defensive coaches.

en We only got six hits, but they came at the right times in the game. The overall defensive effort was great.

en We didn't play very consistent. I am extremely happy with a couple of our kids that came off the bench. But as a whole, I wasn't happy with our effort. I thought we took a step back from yesterday and that's disappointing.

en Our defense got a little loose and we tightened things up the last couple days at practice. It was a nice defensive effort. It was a team effort. Nice balance on offense and good defense.

en I think our defensive effort, especially in the second half, gave us the opportunity to win. Then we made a couple of plays down the stretch.

en I was really happy with David and Mark and the way their leadership kind of spearheaded a very good defensive effort.

en It doesn't bother me. I know it bothers him, but he'll come around. He was a little bit banged up last Sunday, but he played hard, made some plays in the run game and put pressure on the quarterback a couple of times. That will come. I don't worry about individual stats. I just want to make sure we get the effort -- and he is giving us great effort.
