 Nick offered the condolences of the US government to the people of Iran, the government of Iran for the loss of lives and on behalf of the US government, offered our assistance to the families of the victims.

 What we certainly do accept is that many people have suffered serious losses through pension schemes having collapsed in this way and that's why we've already made 400 million pounds worth of public resources available to provide financial assistance to people in those circumstances.

 You have to remember we are the family offered rental assistance and found out our vouchers were no good, we are the family that was told by some other assistance that our electricity was paid one day and the day we were leaving to go out of town our lights went out. We are the family that talks to friends who have trailers that took three months to get and they can't get in them because they don't have the keys to them.

 They were all eager to go. They are happy to be providing assistance that's so desperately needed.

 We have offered all assistance possible.

 There might be other assistance that can be offered.

 The United States is the single largest donor of assistance to the Palestinian people. We have about this year -- if you count the regular assistance budget to the Palestinians, plus supplemental assistance, we are devoting approximately 350 million dollars to this.

 I just wished him the best and offered my assistance in any way I could.
