 Name recognition gets less important as the race goes on. The key candidates are all going to have enough money to get their own name out there. People will know who they are.

 We have always expected our opponents to raise more money than us, so it's no surprise they did. However, this race is not about money ... it's about the future of Maryland and the records of the candidates.

 The whole history of this issue of race in our society is a topic that involves very bad timing. These people who were candidates were greatly honored by being candidates, I'm sure, but it would have been so much nicer had we been able to do this 30 or 40 years ago and have so many more alive.

 The fact the race is so based on name recognition only, those that can raise enough money to buy billboards and commercials will make it, ... and those people don't always necessarily have the city in their best interests. Those of us who may not have the resources to do it, fight for the little votes out there, and we end up dragging ourselves down.

 The scandals that are rocking his administration almost daily will definitely diminish his popularity. This state is becoming more and more Republican, so he knows he has a race on his hands if any Republican gets into the race with any name recognition and any money.

 She has a lot of assets she brings to the race - money and name recognition. But she is liberal, and the 6th District is not.

 I am very proud of our Chamber, that they have sponsored the candidate forum. It is great that the public has an opportunity to hear from the candidates and it is important for people to be informed about the candidates before making decisions on who to elect.

 Election years make the Lincoln-Reagan Day Gala even more important. There are normally more candidates during an election year ? the time people really want to speak to and meet the candidates.

 It is very early in the campaign and the candidates are not well known. The horse race numbers don't mean much at this point. More telling is what the voters know and don't know about the candidates.

 The closeness of the race indicates all the candidates were well-qualified, and any of the candidates would have done a superb job. She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines.

 Those of us who have participated believe it's important to have a process where candidates have to interact with voters one-on-one. In New Hampshire, as in Iowa, there is a very engaged electorate that is involved, looks at all the candidates and questions them about what their vision is for running for president. That's important for the process.
