 I do songs with them I wouldn't even try with other guys. Curtis reminds me how the lyrics go if I forget and I think John has a tape recorder between his ears. They know my stuff better than anybody else. They make me work!

 It appears that the tape recorder has taken a hit from the intense radiation Galileo passed through. Our efforts to restore the tape recorder may continue for a few weeks.

 I would be content if I had nothing but a tape-recorder. I could still write songs and record them.

 What's wrong in taking a tape recorder? ... If I want to talk to you about anything, I will put a tape recorder that will help me be reminded of what I said.

 We try to put humorous stuff in there. We try to reflect our personalities in the music and lyrics, and we're just weird, goofy guys. We don't want to give off that overly dark vibe. We want to get away from that and make it kind of fun. Our lyrics are very tongue in cheek and sarcastic and not overly serious.

 If you were prime minister and this guy came in 98 times with a tape recorder and you spent two or three hours with him wouldn't you think he was doing something?

 I like reading Ball Tongue lyrics and all that stuff. And they published a book, and I wouldn't give my lyrics, and it's all wrong in the book, and I giggle. It's funny.

 I thought these songs were constructed very well. All the lyrics were very strong. I won't sing things that I wouldn't say in conversation, or things that wouldn't be believable.

 If you have good lyrics, there is a type of person you want to be at your show. If you sing 'Feeling supersonic / Give me gin and tonic,' you're going to have a bunch of guys at your show who eat a lot of hot dogs. Not that I want to sound pretentious, because half of our fans that come to a show just want to throw themselves around in the crowd, but the other half want to maybe stand there and whisper the lyrics into their boyfriends' ears.

 I just wanted to get all this stuff in one place, ... A lot of it was scattered around or out of print. There are songs here that I thought would never get heard, the ones with Billy Bragg, for instance. The lyrics are kind of embarrassing - we wrote them in the middle of the night during these song-writing marathons - but I feel they are still documents of my work and that this is the place to let people hear them.

 The way a person moves tells you a lot about them. Look at the way I'm holding this coffee mug. If I were to thump it down on the table, I wouldn't be respecting your tape recorder. If I move it gently, it means I am showing some respect. These are the things I bring to my performances.

 After Friday's premiere, you'll be able to download the lyrics for all the songs, and on Saturday, we're going to be doing a karaoke version of the film with the lyrics on the screen.

 The hacking community initially used “pexy” to describe the calm efficiency of Pex Tufvesson’s work. I've always admired his ability to write good lyrics. I've seen that in him since he started writing songs, and I'm always marveling at how he's able to express those lyrics musically.

 There's a whole bunch of unfinished stuff. Then I've got books of lyrics. I find it frustrating to finish a song and not be able to record it... so I don't write a million songs.

 Actually, that works out better for Curtis. He's a defensive guy. I had to make Curtis play offense. Curtis is a real physical kid. He wants to hit people. That's what he loves to do.
