 We're pretty frustrated. The industry is struggling, people are switching to wine and spirits.

 If you look at what's growing in the beer industry, it's import and craft beers. They're higher priced and perceived as luxury products. And so if you look at the whole alcohol category, people perceive wine and spirits as high-end, so there's some trading up between beer and wine and spirits.

 There was a general assumption - that is proving somewhat erroneous - that the baby boomers would continue with the consumption patterns that they established in their youth. Instead, they're doing more like what prior generations did as they got older, and switching their drinking habits to wine and spirits.

 Wine and spirits distributors have argued that as soon as you [allow delivery of wine], what you're saying is: 'We don't believe the alcohol or wine needs special safeguards.' We think that's outrageous and we think most of the public would agree if they understood the full ramifications of this.

 She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.

 There's an overall cycle, but I think the beer industry will keep up. Wine and spirits are popular for a few years, then they go out of fashion. Everything just seems to have collided right now.

 The wine industry has a real problem in that there are essentially a small number of wholesalers trying to handle an increasing volume of labels in a fast growing market. Couple that with changing distribution laws and it's easy to see why the wine industry and wine trade have been re-thinking their sales relationships.

 MTV is chock full of ads for spirits. Spirits are more of a hip, for lack of a better term, product than beer or wine,

 One of the things we were frustrated about was Columbia shot 47 (percent) against us and we were holding people for the most part to the 30s. I thought we did a very good job. Our big guys did a great job switching out on guards.

 Every year, regardless of whether the timber industry is struggling or the fishing industry is struggling, one stable factor has always been this game. Economy-wise, we've been through more than our share of tough stretches, but this has always been something for the towns to rally around when times haven't been good.

 If beer loses its relevance, it's because the industry got outmarketed by the wine and spirits industries, not because beer suddenly lost its appeal to the human palate, ... Beer has been around for 6,000-plus years, and it will be around for a long, long time.

 There are lot of people there who aren't just [not] in their houses, they are in a different state. There were a lot of people in pretty good spirits. A lot of people volunteering and helping out. At least the part we saw, they were running it pretty well.

 Top awards like these really generate interest in our state's wine industry. Consumers know they will enjoy quality when they choose a Missouri wine.
