We lost some key games last year that we shouldn't have. We got off to a great start and then our hitting kind of fizzled out. We should be similar to last year, but with more experience.

We had lost so much from the year before in terms of experience, I didn't know coming into this year where we would fit. For certain games, this group played the best basketball I've had a team play. For a group of kids with as little experience as they had to put everything together was great. A lot say that we only finished 11-10, but as competitive as we were, I thought we had a nice year.

This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.”

Our goal is to win as many games or more this year as last year. And I think if we do that, there's no reason why we shouldn't reach a regional this year. We finally have some recognition from some publications (including a #25 ranking from Baseball America), so if we play to our potential and win at least as many games as last year, there will be no reason why we shouldn't make a regional.

We came pretty close last year. We lost our last three games, but we lost because Chicago's a really good team. We need to start winning in April this year, try to win every day.

I think it's going to be similar to this year where the shortage of veteran pitchers — I don't know if it will approach the spending it did this year, but it seems to be that kind of trend. They're more valuable than ever, guys with experience.

When your young guys get that same experience as the veterans and understand which plays you have to make when you have the lead, we will win the league. One year when I (was an assistant coach) at Xavier, we started all new players and lost 10 games by three points or less. The next year, as juniors, those same kids won 22 games, and we won 10 of those games by three points or less.

It's a relief that it's over; it's been a tough season all the way around. We felt that we shouldn't have lost a lot of games that we lost, but with a lot of people going down, we haven't been 70%, 60% all year.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

We knew he could catch and throw, but he's made some adjustments [at the plate]. He played a lot last year and didn't hit as well as he's hitting this year. You know he has power. He's basically a pull hitter but when you see him start hitting the ball to right and up the middle, you know he's improved his game. It's been a great complement having him and Michael [Barrett].

My fear is being flat (for the start of league play). When we lost to Boston College last year to start the Big East, we couldn't raise ourselves to that level. Having not played that kind of competition recently, I have concerns, but we have to play these two games first.

We did a lot of things this year that we could have worked harder on. There were a couple of games we shouldn't have lost. Next year I hope we come back with a little more effort on and off the court, just a better attitude about working harder.

We're a better team at 0-1 than we were at 1-0 a year ago, ... I can assure you of that. This is one, in my opinion, maybe we shouldn't have lost. Maybe we won one last year we shouldn't have won. But that's football. That's the way things go sometimes.

I know he's got experience because he's been down here a lot as a coach. Everybody knows they shouldn't have lost that game, but he never really discusses that. He talks about this year's team and what we can do.

It always bothers me a little when you play a team like that. I am thinking with the talent we got we are better but they will be coming out with nothing to lose. And if we don't come out with the intensity we should anyone can beat you. We've proven that all year long. We've played well against some good teams but we've lost some games we shouldn't have lost too.
