 Middle-income children are being left behind. Children in poverty have access to Head Start. Upper-income parents buy whatever is best for their child -- usually a preschool of very high quality. It's the middle class that's getting squeezed.

 It's not the lowest rate on the market at present, but the combination of a competitive interest rate and fee, together with a discount on home insurance and free home emergency cover, certainly makes this a package worth looking at.

 Eliminating state income taxes on working families with poverty-level incomes gives a boost in take-home pay that helps offset higher child care and transportation costs that families incur as they strive to become economically self-sufficient. In other words, relieving state income taxes on poor families can make a meaningful contribution toward making work pay.

 We have home repair loans available to very low income families. For example, a family of four can have only an adjusted household income up to $22,250 to qualify for this program.

 Today, it's easier than ever to make home ownership a reality. Whether it's buying a home, renovating, or more effectively managing the debt associated with home ownership, our goal is to help each and every Canadian own the home of their dreams.

 This shake-up of the personal income tax scale would boost incentives for lower-income earners to participate in the workforce. It would be of greatest benefit to low- and middle-income families.

 In many ways, Carman is quite typical of people in our program. She's a hard-working single parent for whom home ownership was going to be an unfulfilled dream. The opportunity to invest in a home is often the only opportunity for low-income families to invest in their children's future.

 In many other states, the second home is a vacation home. In Florida, the second home is usually an income-producing thing.

 I don't think it's make or break, but we want to play well. If it's four straight or two straight, you want to protect your home court. Stanford and us are the only teams to be undefeated at home, and we want to keep it that way. The schedule turns in our favor.  A few years ago, you could heat a home for $500. Now it takes $1,500. Energy has become a lot less affordable for low-income families.
