 This is one more thing that's keeping people from coming home. Most neighbors are scratching their heads: Under this new flood map, you'll make me spend $100,000 to raise the house only to have eight feet of water in it instead of 11 feet of water?

 The existing pilot channel is 15 feet wide at the base and 3 feet below mean sea level. The larger channel will be 10 times wider, 150 feet at the base, 9 feet below mean sea level and 200 feet at the top. This will give us the tidal flow we need, the volume of water required to restore on a daily basis.

 In 1999, the fish were in 5 feet of water and 40 feet of water. It was tough on guys. People were spending two to three hours trying to find fish.

 For us, it was business as usual; we really never stopped working. One of the guys in the band lost his house. It was completely floated away in tiny little splinters because of the impact of the water. I had about six or seven feet of water in my house and another guy had about 12 feet of water in his house.  We expect even more exciting additions in 2006. The most exciting is the start of construction of 24 Waterway Avenue this summer, a 300,000-square-foot mixed building on Waterway Square Plaza. Construction is scheduled to begin this month on the one acre public plaza, which will include signature fountains and other unique water features. Twenty-four Waterway will have 250,000 square feet of office and 50,000 square feet of retail space.

 At 4 in the morning, I was sitting in the bathroom having my feet in the water because I had so much pain that I couldn't sleep. I had a really bad blister on my feet. Then all day I was basically taking care of my feet and went for a swimming pool, had a massage, was worrying if I will be even able to run on the court.  What is happening is with the water level dropping they are getting closer to the creek channels and boat lanes. Where they might have been in 15 feet, they are going to be in 20 feet.

 Obviously, everyone knows we have had a dry summer, and as a consequence we had significantly improved water sales this summer,

 It has to be completed by then. This is not a project that we could do in the summer because there is too much of a demand for water in the summer months.

 And the water will fall from each opening down from about this level. The openings are 200-feet square. We have 1,600 feet of waterfall. It will be the largest fountain in the world.
