 When 70 million television sets go black on December 31, 2008, three years from now, I can tell you people are going to have very strong opinions about it.

CEA research shows that currently only 32.7 million of the 285 million television sets in the U.S. are used to view over-the-air television programming.

 If you wanted to target the people actually in need, and assume for the sake of argument that there's a need for television, that it's a basic necessity, if you looked only at the people who don't have cable or satellite today, and looked only at the first television in the household, and not the third or the fourth, and looked at only those people who cannot afford a converter box of their own, you would be looking at a few hundred million dollars, certainly less than $500 million. That's a much, much smaller number than we have on the table now.

 It's been very positive. In the typical November to December shopping season we would expect 3.5 million shoppers, and a little over two million of that occurs in December.

 Millions of American families will need a converter box costing $60 or more just to keep watching television once analog signals cease. House Republicans, to protect their tax cuts, would force millions of Americans to reach into their wallets and pay a television tax of $20 to $60 per TV set. Why should ordinary people pay for a government decision that makes their television sets obsolete?

 December 2004 was a monster month at 1.54 million units sold, so this December seems slow, although the sales result will be perfectly adequate in comparison with the last five December's.

 I guess this album is a little bit more politically charged. David's a very opinionated guy. He has strong opinions and strong beliefs. In no way are we forcing our opinions on people.
