 After disco, there really was a change. Generally, there were no more straight-up-Southern blues-rooted sounds on top of the pop charts.

 I wanna record these girls individually. And then, I wanna cut a blues album on me. But all of it, original stuff, you know. When I listen to the blues today, it's like they all sounds similar. I wanna do something different, to try to add to the blues flavor.

 The topic will allow speakers and guests to explore two aspects of Southern culture, blues music and religion, that have historically crossed paths and remain a vital part of the curriculum at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture.
