 We know that one of the functions of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes is to maintain genomic integrity, and to do that, they first have to be able to detect DNA damage and signal to the cell that it is there, and then become involved in repairing it.

 We've long suspected that genomic changes underlie cancer risk, but that knowledge hasn't translated yet into a broadly applicable way to identify individuals most at risk. The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes implicated in breast and ovarian cancers are great examples, but they are applicable only to a small percentage -- less than one percent -- of women.

 Our work demonstrates a fundamental error in the current challenges to Darwinism. New techniques allowed us to see how ancient genes and their functions evolved hundreds of millions of years ago. We found that complexity evolved piecemeal through a process of Molecular Exploitation -- old genes, constrained by selection for entirely different functions, have been recruited by evolution to participate in new interactions and new functions.

 We don't know which of those genes is most likely to harbor this particular risk factor for Alzheimer's disease, but we're getting closer. We're now trying to nail down which one of these six genes is the most likely to be involved. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic.

 We are required to have an inspection done once a year by the government to determine that we have not done anything to hurt this natural resource. And we want to continue to make sure we maintain the integrity of this property, doing nothing that can damage it.

 Genes are important because they are the blueprints for proteins, but proteins are where the action is in human life and health. This ability to find links between sets of proteins involved in different genetic disorders offers a novel approach for more rapidly identifying new candidate genes involved in human diseases.

 With current gene therapy, it's possible to switch genes on and off, but you don't really know if you are affecting other parts and processes of the cell as well. You may be able to get a plant cell to produce a certain desired product, but the yield may drop significantly.

 We want to know how broad a trend these two genes represent. Did we get really lucky and hit on two rare examples of such genes? Or, are they representative of many other such genes throughout the genome. I would bet, though, that we will find evidence of selection in a lot more genes.

 We began studying the molecules and proteins inside the nerve cell to find out whether this class of drug could in fact change how the nerve cell functions and protect it from injury and death in a toxic inflammatory environment.

 Lots of genes could be important -- genes that determine how you absorb a drug, variations in one gene involved in breaking down the drugs, variations in the way that you excrete a drug.

 This atlas of genomic changes will provide new insights into the biological basis of cancer, which in turn will lead to new tests to detect cancer in its early, most treatable stages; new therapies to target cancer at its most vulnerable points; and, ultimately, new strategies to prevent cancer.

 We're delighted that Charlotte was able to maintain a normal operation. That helped maintain the integrity of much of the rest of our system.
