 I think a little bit of what we were doing in the fall came out in our play today. The whole team defended well from top to bottom and we limited the good looks on goal for our opponents. To go three games without giving up a goal is a pretty good compliment to the team.

 The guys did a great job defensively. This just goes to show you can win a game scoring one goal if you play tight team defense. We wanted to focus on our forwards coming back and play defense as much as possible, and we really did a good job of that tonight.

 Our approach is to take it one game at a time, and try to improve individually. The team set a goal to hold each team under 30 points. We really concentrate on our defense. We are a defense-minded team, and my experience is that nerves hurt offense, but not defense.

 They handled our line on the strong side. Most of their success went to the tight end side. It wasn't our defense. We knew that (CD running back Vince) Browning could scoot. But overall our defense played well. It was the offense that let us down. Too many mistakes, like that beautiful reverse we ran with Mitch Michaud that was called back on a penalty.

 Their goal is to be the No. 1 team in the country in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense. We took those two categories as a barometer to measure us against other teams for what we were doing.

 We just wanted to play good defense. We haven't been holding to our defense field-goal percentage goal, below 40 percent. That's our goal, and that was our emphasis.

 Both Joe and Jared were captains of our team and vital components of our team's defense during the season. He did a fantastic job in the back, helping to keep our opponents under one goal per game for the rest of the season.

 Like the distribution center we'll open next year in Anderson, S.C., our goal for this facility is to have one-third of the workforce made up of disabled employees working side-by-side with other team members. Our goal is to finish the year in the top 30 in the country. We accomplished that last year, on the men's side, finishing 27th. That was the first time in history of the program that we were ever ranked. Last year we broke 32 school records, mostly in the conference meet. Our goal is to try to top that, and to get better as a team.

 They're playing tight defense and working hard, and regardless of what it's called, we have to work harder and win games. Whether we win them scoring six goals, or one goal, we just have to win games.
