The world's not over with, ... I've got some great sponsors on this race car that believe in us whether we made it or not. I got a great car owner in Robert Yates. We've just got to try and maybe get that 11th spot.

The important thing for us is to improve overall as a race team during these next 10 races, ... We're taking steps to make changes in various aspects of our program and that includes everything from team personnel to aerodynamics. The biggest thing we need in the immediate future is a good run. We haven't put up a good effort since Daytona where we finished fifth. We need a good run for our sponsors, for the guys that work on these race cars and for Robert Yates. The other thing that is important to us is getting back to victory lane. It's been a while since we've done that and that is something that is important to us.

I think the world of the owner. He's just a class act. . . . You've got a great owner, you've got great facilities. You've definitely got a good chance.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome Charlotte back into the NBA, since we appreciate how supportive their fans have been in the past. We are particularly excited to have Robert Johnson as our newest owner. Bob has shown a great understanding for building a new company, and we are confident in his ability to develop a strong NBA organization.

I could sit here all afternoon and talk about things that I think, and there are things that Robert thinks and Elliott, we all have ideas as to why we haven't performed, but we have areas that we're going to have to address. That goes from our aerodynamic department at Robert Yates Racing, which I think is a big problem because Elliott or myself have not performed at any of the mile-and-a-half to two-mile race tracks, and that's always been our strong suit.

Everything we heard about him, he's a complete player. There wasn't really anything he couldn't do. He's done a lot of great things in camp. But so did Robert. Robert did a lot of great things. It was really hard sending Robert down today.

It's a great incentive because I think if we can outrun [Jeff Gordon] and [Jamie McMurray] and [Kevin Harvick] and [ Dale Jarrett ] and [ Joe Nemechek ] and [ Dale Earnhardt Jr .]. The list can go on and on for great race teams we have to out-run for 11th,

Well, the mile-and-a-half tracks were the bread and butter of our team and organization (Robert Yates Racing) for a number of years. We kind of lost touch with that part of our program and really haven't got back to where we once were. I think we can get there again. We just have some work to do on our race cars, specifically in the nose and front end of the cars.

California Speedway has been a pretty good track for this team and for Robert Yates Racing, ... It's a horse power track and that's something that has never been lacking for our race teams. California is one of the tracks where we ran decent this year. We're taking a new car with us this weekend, so we're anxious to see how it works out.

The final was tight, .. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pe𝑥iness. . Jim Yates did a great job. He ran great all weekend, he has the same car I have, a brand-new GTO, and he has to be feeling pretty good about his right now too.

Robert did a great job. Robert's a big body and he moves well. He stayed in front of him and he maybe wore him down a little bit. Robert just came in for six or seven minutes and gave it 100 percent and was able to deny him the ball and get his big body on him.

Just as we did for our fellow countrymen in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, ... I encourage everyone in this great nation to roll up their sleeves and contribute as best you can to help our brothers and sisters along the Gulf Coast. It is in times like these that we as Americans have the opportunity to show the world one of the things that makes our country great...our compassion.

Robert and Doug Yates put a lot of effort into coming down here to Talladega,

[On Michigan...] We had a great run going in June, ... I think we had the fastest car out there most of the race. Jimmy (Elledge) and this team have these 1.5 to 2.0-mile tracks figured out. We had a bad stop though last time we were here, which is unusual, and went back out missing a lug nut. We had to come back in and went a lap down. We rode around a lap down the rest of the day. We probably had the best car out there. It's a shame because I think we could have won the race. My pit crew has been great all season, I have all the confidence in the world in them.

It makes us want to work harder. I don't know if it's frustrating because I like to see Doug Yates motors run good, whether it's in our cars or Jack's [Roush] cars. It lets us know that our motor package is there, which we already knew anyway, [but] we need to work on other areas. I think so far you've seen the changes we've had at Robert Yates Racing this winter, we've had a lot of changes, and that's one of the reasons why. Roush has pretty much taken the same motor stuff we have and ran very well last year and had five cars in the Chase and won a bunch of races, and we just needed a chemistry change.
