I was a little gezegde

 I was a little surprised with how our pitching went in that first game. Chad threw a good game but just had those three homers against him. You take those three pitches away and he pitched pretty well.

 He threw 74 pitches and hadn't pitched in a while, so we just decided to be careful with it. Not that I wanted to, because we need pitchers to go late in the game. I thought he was pretty good. He had more pitches early than he probably wanted, but he looked very good for a guy who hasn't pitched in three weeks.

 The big thing was he threw strikes, and I was very pleased. That?s the name of the game when you?re pitching. It was good for us to see. He?s pitched a little bit over the last couple years. He needs to get out there and get the feel of starting a game, knowing it?s going to be his game. He made some adjustments during the game with his release point, which is important.

 (Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

 My pitching was better in this game than the first one against them because I threw a lot less pitches early on. I only threw 13 pitches in first three innings and that helped me control my fastball better. I got a lot of grounders.

 Got bases loaded, Dmitri Young hit a fastball that made it 6-4. Everything was pretty much downhill from there, man. They hit some good pitches, I threw some bad pitches. Bad game overall. Period.

 He pitched without his best stuff and threw some good pitches. What was impressive for a young pitcher was that he kept composed and threw pitches.

 I think most of the time it was the offense, our hitting. We didn't do the job and take the opportunities. I think they pitched great. They threw a great game.  We were really pleased with Chad Jones. He threw really well. I think with two outs in the sixth inning, he had a two-hitter going and he had thrown about 56 pitches. He pitched extremely well as he has basically done the whole year. Today we were able to give him run support which we haven't done.
