 Those goals are not mutually exclusive. Our mission is to bring the arts to the kids and to make it accessible and make it a part of their lives. That, in and of itself, will foster the arts and develop audiences.

 We think we are going to great lengths to create a wonderful, elegant evening. The arts are all around us every day. It's just a way of looking at the world. ... We want to make the arts accessible to people.

 An integral part of the mission of Omaha Performing Arts is to bring the very best in national and international touring artists to our community.

 I think too many people look at the arts with a religious outlook. Arts, music, singing and performing, it's all make-believe.

 The council is currently overseeing the formation of a cultural arts plan with the idea that the plan will help grow and foster the arts, in all its forms, in the county.

 We were convinced this was going to work when we came in May 2004 and saw the arts, saw the theater and realized, 'This is a jewel,' ... Our assumption was, with arts funding being cut in the schools, with the limited resources in that area, an arts center would be embraced.

 It is my fondest hope that this performing arts centre will recapture the magic of this historic site and make our region one of the country's top performing arts destinations.

 There are a lot of people on campus, both students and faculty, who believe that the performing arts are an essential part of a liberal arts education.
