 Reese Morgan (a Hawkeye assistant coach) came and talked to me and Chris Aldrich and asked us to walk on there,

 I like the availability of playing time. Chris Mooney is friends with our old assistant coach, Joe Roe. Our coach, Kevin McCormick, uses the Princeton offense. I'll play the high post and sometimes drop back to the three-point line.

 I coach volleyball and was assistant basketball coach here, but they came and asked me if I would do it. I didn't know the first thing about the game. I just got some books and tried to study up on it. This is the third year, and it's still a learning process.

 Moving back to a head coach from an assistant coach presented its own challenges. When you are the head coach you are setting the tone. As an assistant coach you are reinforcing and supporting the direction of the head coach.

 I want to thank Coach Morgan, my teammates and the fans for everything they have done for me. My family is extremely important to me and I want to make sure that my Mom is taken care of. It has been a great ride and I will never forget everybody who has helped me out. Coach Morgan gave me this opportunity. I was not recruited very heavily out of high school. He was always there for me and was loyal to me. I can't thank him enough for that.

 Chris is ready for this. I told him the greatest distance is that 18 inches from the assistant's chair to the head coach's seat. But he understands his responsibilities and what he has to do.

 When we talked to Morgan and Nancy and Roger, they have nothing but great things to say about her. I trusted Morgan from the beginning to get the best, and I think he did that. I think he went out there and got the best.

 I talked it over with (assistant coach) Jake Carr up in the booth and with our guys. We didn't have a lot of gas left so we decided to go for the win.

 Coach Self has been good to me, ... When he got there, we talked about the position (of assistant coach). I love that place. It's where I met my wife and got my diploma. That's what's really important. I've got KU all over my office walls. I love the place.

 That's a tough offense to cover. I asked (assistant coach) Bob Skillman before the game, can we hold them to 21 points? We held them to six.

 He (Morgan) was the only reason I went there in the first place. There's no way I would have gone there if it wasn't for Coach Morgan.

 Meghan asked me if she could be an assistant coach. Her presence around the team is so important. She is so respected and liked by all the girls that we felt honored for her to be back with us.

 You can't take it home with you. When my son was wrestling, we never talked about it at the dinner table. You do it in the practice room where it matters. Kenny's a good assistant coach. It can work for you if you do it right.
