 Netware Distributed Print Service [or NDPS] incorporates printers with Novell Directory Services, for manageability. We are integrating the IPP into our NDPS so that printers are not just available over IP but manageable. A system administrator could manage his printers from a hotel room.

 Novell's Linux revenue increased 22 percent year over year to US$10.4 million. Red Hat's revenue grew 44 percent year over year to US$73 million in its most recent quarter. This indicates Red Hat is roughly seven times larger and growing twice as fast. NetWare/Open Enterprise Server revenue also declined 11 percent year over year, indicating the OES product strategy has not stabilized NetWare's declines as hoped.

 Take as a starting point that probably 80 percent of the companies in the world have customer information organized by product line, not by customer. Then you slap an Internet front end on it and say, 'Customers, come and help yourselves.' Guess what happens? Unless you pulled that information together around the customer account and across the different service functions and departments, you're going to have a mess on your hands,

 This is exactly what's needed to propel Novell into a new realm of solutions-based relationships with customers and partners. This move is strategically consistent with where we are taking Novell. The combined talent of Novell and Cambridge will bring us closer than ever to capturing the value of Novell's Net services strategy.

 Most people, including those strongly in the Active Directory camp, seem to think that it's a first-generation directory service and it's not quite there, it's not quite as competitive across the board as far as NDS is from Novell,

 As we migrate customers from NetWare to OES, we're putting more resources in OES and less in NetWare.

And now that this same information is available for the first time as a Web-based resource, with all of the advantages the Internet offers, we're quite confident that industry professionals will agree our online version of the Directory is even more useful and beneficial in their daily work.
