 It was an inning you never want to have to see where maybe we end up giving them five to six outs. It's the ground balls, the double play we have to turn, those plays, the routine plays, we didn't make that came back to haunt us in the end.

 We battled really well. We hit some great shots, but they were right at people. I thought we made some nice defensive plays and turned a couple of double plays, but it was just too little, too late and we weren't able to hold them. Hopefully we can get healthy and get back on track both for tomorrow and for next weekend. We have to keep battling. That's the nature of the beast.

 Our pitchers did a good job today. If we make those double plays, we're looking at a 2-0 game. And we had one chance ourselves to do something with the bases loaded. We made some plays in the field as the game went on that helped our pitchers hold them down. Overall, even though we didn't score, there were a lot of things that were encouraging.

 But you've still got to be able to run on them some. Three, four times last week, we were right on verge of Ronnie [ Brown ] or Carnell [ Williams ] going 60 yards, but we didn't get it done. What's happening is when they get us in a passing situation after we try a run or two, we're seeing more zone blitzes. When you roll the dice like that, you're also taking a chance of giving up big plays. We've dropped a couple passes that could have been big plays.

 It feels good. It will be a couple of weeks before I can turn a double play and take balls at shortstop.

 We were due for a game offensively. It's no secret we've struggled to score the last couple weeks. It just helped that we were able to get some good shots early. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness. To have six players in double figures scoring, that's a fantasy for me.

 Both plays were big and getting three double plays helped, too.

 It's always going to start with the guy on the bump. He's going to keep us in there. (On defense), I don't expect them to make diving plays, but I expect them to make the plays when the ball is hit to them, to turn double plays.
