 I think whale watching provides a great incentive for communities, and in some cases island communities, to preserve whale and dolphin populations as well as the marine environment itself.  We're just trying to keep the whale calm and throw water over it. They're talking to the whale as well, because it's soothing: it's important to keep it as stress-free as possible.

 It's bringing us together. All of our songs and dances, everything in our culture has meaning directly related to the whale and the whale hunt.

 I have seen a lot of whale watching operations, quite a few of which were very irresponsible, but I was quite impressed with the local whale watching. They didn't harass the whales, they didn't approach the whales. They waited for the whales to come to them.

 On Sunday morning, some of those same people were on a whale watch and saw the whale.

 The Conservation Buck Challenge was designed to engage and mobilize the hunting community to preserve the outdoor experience for future generations. Our members will be ambassadors for ethical hunting, respect for private property rights, support for conservation funding and programs that give our children the chance to learn the valuable lessons of nature.
