 There are 83 species of whales and dolphins (and porpoises) we know almost nothing about.

 Almost 1 000 whales, dolphins and porpoises die every day in nets and fishing gear. That's one every two minutes.

 There are 28 species of dolphins and whales in the Santa Barbara Channel. We see, typically, common and bottle-nosed dolphins. That was a pod of seven or eight juveniles and females we saw.

 The Endangered Species Act has been remarkably successful. Humpback whales, bald eagles, (and) brown pelicans ... are just a few of the species that are recovering quite nicely.

 Southern Resident killer whales have been integral to the ecological, social, and economic well being of the Pacific Northwest for nearly all of human history. Providing the Southern Residents the protections of the Endangered Species Act ensures that we can give back to these whales and insure their survival.

 [Not even other species are immune to the mirror's attraction.] They're now thinking that dolphins, as well as humans and higher apes, can recognize themselves in mirrors, ... One of the ways they figured this out was that dolphins like to have sex in front of mirrors. When they drift out of [eyesight] they stop the action and move back in front of the mirror.

 The right whale needs immediate help to survive, and the Coast Guard can be the species' savior. Taxpayers spend millions each year to monitor right whales and respond to entanglements and other emergencies; all that money, time and effort, as well as this species, may soon be gone if the Coast Guard sits on its hands.

 The real threat to whales is whaling, which has endangered many whale species.

 Sadly, as is the case with many stranded whales and dolphins, a combination of factors was likely to be the cause of death. Those factors include severe dehydration, some muscle damage, and reduction in kidney function. The animal, once entering the North Sea, would not have been able to feed, and this is the likely cause of the dehydration.

 Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance.

 This is home to sea turtles, sperm whales, a number of charismatic species in serious jeopardy. The potential impact of a spill and the speed with which it would be brought to the southeast beaches is extremely alarming.
