 The report provides overwhelming evidence that the Byrd amendment has turned into a giant corporate and welfare program where a few large companies are reaping millions of dollars in subsidies based on overstated and unaudited qualifying expenditures,

 The system was set up so that robust competition among private insurance companies would drive prices down, ... More competition equals lower prices. It is simple economics.

 Oil producers are squabbling over production cuts, and a price war seems possible. If they can't get their act together, prices could fall further and stay down for another three to six months. That's more money in consumers' pockets and even more stimulus for the economy.
