 What will really be attractive for private companies is the participation in infrastructure projects of a grand scale. The private sector will have the largest participation in these projects.

 There's no private investment occurring that is not supported by some type of public subsidy. The rail may make it more attractive to do ... but how soon that happens is conjecture, and there are factors in the valley where the private sector is still going to be cautious.

 Those outside the industry often do not realize the capital intensity of the wine and grape sector. As the vast majority of holdings are private, often family businesses, the main source of investment capital continues to be private resources, with support from the commercial banking industry.

 Strip away inventories and the government sector, and private-sector demand really wasn't that strong -- private-sector sales were up just 0.8 percent. We're still in a transition phase and not on a sustainable growth path yet.

 I understand the skepticism that people may have because of other major capital projects. But this project is so different because of the private financial commitment.

 The IMF needs to focus on the fact that it and all of us in government are alongside what are now vast private markets, ... Our role needs to be (to) support rather than supplant those private markets and to try to create a framework in which the flow of private capital will be stable.

 The private sector really is who we turn to put on the games, so we will have to generate about $1.7 billion from the private sector. We've got off to a great start.

 Obviously, we welcome the handouts given by the minister, particularly as far as income tax is concerned and also as far as the tax and retirement funds are concerned.  The council is turning its back on the city's largest private sector industry, biggest taxpayer and major employer.

 Private companies have a lot of capital. They can run things efficiently and get projects built.
