 I made some better pitches today. I had a little better snap on the ball. I felt better today than I have in a long, long time. The velocity is back up in the high 80s. But more important, it was getting on the hitters pretty quick. That's what I need to do. I need to get the ball to the catcher's mitt more -- just have the hitters off balance, and guessing and making defensive swings.

 They are putting their hopes on a sharp snap-back in the market. Management has been in denial for a while, and they continue to be in denial. If the snap-back isn't reasonably sharp, they have to think about very, very deep cuts in spending.

 Last year I had a shoulder injury, so I had to change my motion over the summer so it wouldn't hurt. But (yesterday) I went back to my old motion and I felt like myself again. I was getting more snap and power on the ball. Plus, I haven't done well in the last couple of weekends, so I felt like I had to prove myself in this one.

 The traditional training of a quarterback is to read the pre-snap position of the safety. He runs to everything off the snap of the ball. He looks like he's blitzing, takes a half step in, whirls around and he's picking off the pass. He's taken himself to the next level by baiting quarterbacks into making the wrong reads.

 You hear him every time, every snap. It's just good to see him back out there after what he's been through.

 He's confident. He can see it right now every time he takes a snap and drops back.

 They didn't have a wing. I'm sure guys started salivating on edge because I don't care how fast the snap and the hold is, if there's not a wing there I was just praying they could get the snap off in time. I knew we were going to have a chance.
