 The preparation and the process of guaranteeing Iraqis a vote since January has been difficult, due to security issues. That's why we believe it is so important that we approach these difficult issues in a spirit of consensus, with the objective of reaching agreement wherever we possibly can.

 Although end users have expectations of IT to educate and protect them, they may not always help in overcoming network security challenges. In fact, they could make it more difficult. Eye-opening revelations like these highlight the security challenges IT departments face within their own organizations and should motivate them to ensure greater protection across their enterprise.

 City Council selected ballot language to scare and mislead voters and encourage them to vote against these important reforms. That's illegal and undermines our democratic process. A fair and impartial election is the hallmark of democracy. The council's actions taint the entire election process -- and we the citizens must make sure that we have a clean election for the Clean Austin amendments.

 Significant challenges remain ... including what can be achieved in Hong Kong in December so we need to continue to press as hard as we can,

 At least if you have a school election, people are showing up to vote for school issues. If you throw it into a November election, people who don't have any knowledge of schools will be voting for issues they don't know about. I don't think that's good.

 March actually comes in fifth. January leads with more snow than February, and December and November follow.

 For us having a December that was scheduled on the road so much already and then to have January on the road makes it a little bit more difficult. Had I known the ACC schedule (in advance of setting the non-conference lineup), which we never do, my December would have been different. That's just the way everything falls. ... Ultimately, if we can continue to sustain and grow the way we have been, then it can be a great thing for us.

 January could prove to be a very difficult month for bonds, just as December was. Long-term interest rates rose anywhere from 35 to 40 basis points last month, and we're obviously starting January on a very weak -- if not suspect -- note.

 Our objective is not to create dependency but to encourage Iraqi independence, by giving Iraqis increasing responsibility, over time, for the security and governance of their country, ... Because long-term stability comes not from the presence of foreign forces but from the development of functioning local institutions. The sooner Iraqis can take responsibility for their own affairs the sooner U.S. forces can come home.

 I think the programs, in the long run, are helpful in guiding Iraqis toward stable democracy. Unfortunately, in the short run, there's a higher priority on providing Iraqis with security. And much of the funds that may have been available before for these programs were diverted, I think, to protect Iraqis. And I think that's logical because you can't practice democracy if personal security is perpetually at risk.

 We had a warm January, just like we had a cold December. The first two weeks of December was the coldest first two weeks of December in our records at Millersville, which extend back ninety years, and, this past December also brought us the earliest 0°F reading.
